Hua Hin monitors flood situation
Hua Hin municipality is now monitoring the flood situation in the area, due to ongoing rain.
Today overcast weather still covers Prachuab Khiri Khan province, following rainfall for two consecutive days. The rain caused floods in low lying areas of Hua Hin municipality, especially in Phongnet village, and Soi Hua Hin 102 where floods happen regularly.
The flood situation was resolved after the Disaster Prevention And Mitigation Provincial Office District 12 installed a high-pressure water pump at the entrance to the village. The water level was reduced to normal but the situation must be monitored for 24 hours.
Armed forces from Fort Thanarat infantry center helped people in the area move their belongings up high enough and away from the flood. Meanwhile, Prachuab Khiri Khan Governor Veera Sriwattanatrakul has checked the area and ordered the removal of water hyacinth and other weeds from canals to speed up the drainage of flood water.
It's not even 1600 hours and dark as night over here in Rayong....and pissing down hard again. Another wet night coming. One good thing is my pool is now a temperature that is refreshing for a change....actually chilly. Pete

What is unusual about the last few days is that it is not the South West Monsoon flow that is producing the rain. The synoptic charts are showing a huge high pressure region over and to the east of China, with a line of low pressure cells all the way from east of the Philippines, across Vietnam and Thailand, all the way to India. The result is a North Easterly flow across the South China Sea that is picking up the moisture.
It is almost like the Monsoon has swung around to the North East and the end of the South West Monsoon.
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
Some influence from the North doesn't surprise me as there's been a nip in the air the last few days/night. I think outside now it's about 23c and around 21c last night.

It's funny how attitudes change after a couple of cloudy days with a few good showers. I chat occasionally with a guy from Oz who's been here only 1 year. For weeks he's been saying it's too hot and humid and looking forward to some rain. Today he's moaning because it's cloudy dismal and raining.
Must admit I do get used to the sun being out when I get up in the morning and after a few days like today I'm beginning to yearn for a break but Thailand needs it's rain

My daughter tells me it was waist deep in places in Soi 102 yesterday. I think the rumours that it doesn't flood any more were exaggerated by property owners.
My daughter was telling me that one friends house needs new furniture most years. So I guess that they may have partially solved the problem, but it still exists in places.
Having said the above, they are digging a couple of HUGE holes at the railway end - I don't know if that is anything to do with drainage.

Owners or developers?

Because of the lower temperature and renting instead of owning (not having to worry about leaks or flooding) I'm in
heaven!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I lived in the 'basin' of 102 for 18 months. The only houses that escape are the ones that have moved their ground floor to upstairs, filling in the original ground floor, leaving them above the floods. Nothing has been done to solve this and I can't think what can be done. The improvements were to Soi 102 but not the 'basin'.
It's rained steadily over here on the Rayong side all night. I was able to turn on enough lights to see my pool is now also my side yard and flowing down the street as well. I don't know how much we've gotten as it hasn't stopped since 1600 hours yesterday afternoon. It must be several inches at least. Pete
