I’m not trying to be pedantic, but just for clarification, aren’t 2006 D4D Vigos sold in Thailand all 3000cc? I think they were sold elsewhere with the older 2500 engine.
I'm not sure about the 2006 models, Steve. I do know they did offer a 2.5 previously, but not with a turbo. As you know, no turbo = mucho excitement when attempting to pass...LOL. Pete

80 payments stacks up. So the loan is probably via the main dealer which means it will be from a reputable bank, probably, US, UK of Japanese.

I would make them your first port of call. If the seller is reluctant to provide you the information it should ring a few alarm bells. I doubt it though, I am sure most people use reputable finance companies.

The finance company will be able to provide invaluable information as to the transfer of ownership. You may need to take out a private contract with the current owner and it would be advisable to get a letter of intent from the finance company. They are the ones that hold the papers and they will do until the debt is settled in full.

There will probably be early payment penalties but as these are banker based loans I would not expect them to be too harsh. If they are then there are other ways round the issue.

To get the rates charged by the finance company there are Excel library functions available to calculate interest rates.

I was wrong Pete, they did do a 2500 Vigo in 2006, I’ve just had a look at a couple of websites.
I bought mine in 2006 and I didn’t remember that being an option, but that was obviously just a fault with my memory.
Perhaps I didn't pay much attention because I was worried about overtaking!

Obviously that needs checking out and is hopefully wrong.

Good point. Will check on it. I know having been to various dealers today that finance interest is around 3.5%. The pick-up was purchased from Toyota PKK, so I would expect the finance company to be reliable.

I haven't owned nor wanted to own a car for many years. I got to dislike having to deal with paperwork, breakdowns, servicing, warranties, insurance, fines, speed traps, etc.. If it didn't fit in my pocket or my mouth, I didn't want it. Needed to take time out and do the pony-tailed, flip-flop India Odyssey free spirit thingamajig. So, if I need transport, I use the g/f's beat up but reliable pick-up.

Now the yogic jim-jams (pyjamas) have been replaced by a golf shirt, I'm coming full circle. Damn domestic bliss has knocked me off the path!
