You forgot the candied yams. :D :D . Peel some yams, boil about 10 minutes, put into an electric pan, add a full bag of brown sugar and about a pound of butter and let simmer for a day, until the sugar/butter has caramelized(sp) and penetrated the yams. Deadly but deliciouso!! Pete

Had the above recipe here at a certain resturant last year. The turkey was flown in from the states

The turkey, stuffing, mashed spuds and gravy were excellent :munch: :munch:

There was an old TV series in the States named WKRP in Cincinatti. One Thanksgiving they decided to donate live turkeys for publicity by letting them fly out of a helicopter to the people waiting below. What they didn't realize is that Turkeys can't really fly. One of the funniest sitcoms I've ever seen, a classic. Pete

Glad to see you Americans are doing a roast bird correctly ! Proper gravy and proper stuffing instead of rolling a bit of paxo into balls and baking them until you can hit them 200 yds off a tee before covering them in instant gravy .

Minifarm do a cranberry and caramelised onion relish BTW .Enjoy your festivities all of you .

Thanksgiving feast

Post by Chas »

The Marriott puts on a wonderful feast each year and I highly recommend it.

All the typical fixin's plus the usual huge variety of alternatives usually found at their buffet dinners. I have been every year for the past four or five years and enjoyed each one immensely.

To give you an example. . last year, besides the pumpkin pie there must have been four or five other kinds of pies to choose from and another dozen or so dessert alternatives!

May be booked full though. Price is usually around 1000 baht ++. You would have to call to check.

We tried the deep frying fad one year, but it was just too much work setting it up and a mess to clean up at the end. It definitely tastes better than baked, and it's cooked in about 1/4 of the time.

I checked with the Marriott and they have not sold out yet for their Thanksgiving buffet. Still places available, just ask for their concierge to make reservations.
