I've tried discussing these self same points with my Dalmation but she just does not get the gist of it and in all honesty, I thought she would have been the better bet.

Just found this idea from somewhere else:

A marketing campaign - you produce a series of nude western men living in Hua Hin with a group of beautiful Thai women. with the banner

' no matter how wrinkly you are you will always find true love in Hua Hin'

TAT GEARS UP TOURISM PROMOTION ACTIVITIES IN THREE EMERGING MARKETS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

China, the Middle East and India will remain the three main emerging markets in which the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will pump up its tourism promotion activities for the country throughout the year.

These three emerging markets have recently gained the attention of tourism promoters, by recording steady growth during the past years. Marketing and sales promoting activities are therefore critical in encouraging and maintaining long-term growth.

“With the oil prices still negatively affecting the global tourism industry, TAT has shifted its plan to focus more on potential Asian countries, which include, among others, long established markets like Malaysia, Japan and Korea — currently the first, second and third largest markets for Thailand’s tourism industry, respectively. Meanwhile emerging markets like China, the Middle East and India are not to be underestimated. Within a couple of years China has become a major tourism market for Thailand, with visitors reaching the one million mark for the first time last year. India and the Middle East are also showing signs of considerable growth in the years to come,” according to Mrs. Phornsiri Manoharn, Governor of TAT.
That's all we need, a load of foreigners coming here

So it looks like they are going to ignore the last remaining westerners trickling in and those living and spending here and concentrate on Chinese and Indians.

Do you think Asians will pay western 'alien' prices or will the government need to introduce a three-tier pricing system to make things fair?

The way the Chinese economy is retracting at the moment I wouldn’t have thought that would be much of a growth market for tourist arrivals.
It’ll be bad news for all the tailor’s shops around town if it’s only Indians coming to Hua Hin!

An impressive Party political manifesto by President in the wings Buksida. It is sure to attract a lot of votes - has got mine already.

Mrs Manoharm is just another victim of statistics damn statistics and lies.
The ommission of the Pakistan contingent is noteworthy or is it the Sth Asia tourists in general she wants and yes their new found wealth is perhaps just as elusive as integrity in government (and banking).

Thai Beer and Whisky manufacturers must be in despair at the thought of Middle Eastern middle class tourists being the new wave. Beer and Whisky without any alcohol content?? The bar trade (except for the networking) would be non existant.

Thank Goodness the Indians and Chinese can drink although Brandy and Toddy is more their tipple.

No wonder there is political turmoil worldwide. The nuts are definitely in charge of the nut house.
