Is that a rhetorical question HHF? I thought you'd committed yourself(elsewhere) to the stance that there were none(pizzas) worthy of mention in the locality. :tsk:

I stand by that. Anyone who has ever had a Chicago or Memphis pizza will not like any pizza found here... but I'm always willing to try a new one! :thumb:

Khun Richard, I see you know your pizza history... indeed it is said that the dish was first created in Naples (Italy). I spent over a month in Italy and while I had some excellent food there (you're right about the meat balls) like lasagna, ravioli, etc., I found the pizza lacking.

As with "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", with wine and many food dishes the "flavor is in the taste buds of the consumer". The reason there are so many styles of pizza is that there are people who will swear by each one of them.

Typical Italian pizza is (to me) usually too thin with not enough toppings. Thai pizza is too sweet (because Thais love everything sweet I guess).

The deep dish pizza was reputed to have been invented in Chicago and even thin crust pizza in America is loaded with toppings (usually about 2cm high). They never skimp on the cheese or any meat or other toppings. A slice is a meal! A pie is a meal for a large family! :thumb:

It probably is a contributor, but I think cheeseburgers and chips are the biggest culprits in America... :(

:offtopic:

But we've wandered off topic... I think it was The Buffalo Tavern...

Those English food photos Spitfire posted sure look yummy and I'm sure not fattening at all! :D

I don't know what side of Khon Kaen you'll be on Richard, but if you're not far from Udon Thani try the Irish Clock in Udon. It's run by the original owner of Steve's Bar in Udon.

It has air-con, an extensive menu and a pleasant atmosphere - was there last week.

Sunday roast 170 baht and a pint of really good draught Guinness for 160 baht.

I'm going to be about 70 km north east of KK but will bare that in mind.

I'm going to be located in a remote village called Ban Sok Khao Kae and the nearest town is Amphoe Kranuan

All welcome to come and stay and to get back onto thread, Buff Bill, can I still be your promotions director :D :D :D

We still haven't managed to get any more details on the tavern's happy hour, which brands included etc.

C'mon "Promotions Director", sort it out and "Promote" something.

BTW richard, regarding Khon Kaen, the area around The Khon Kaen Hotel or Kaen Inn Hotel is OK for a laugh should you find yourself in the city, Udon is also OK for a laugh too. :P

However, we await your "approved" info after six with interest.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the area around the Sofitel is cool aswell.

HHF

Going back off topic

Nothing like a giant Deep pan pizza and and a jug of Margaritas to wash it down with a bunch of portly mates in downtown Racine (near Chicago)

Got stitched on the meatball and spag spread. Friend suggested I go and order. so up I go and the giant behind the bar with a string vest on and fag in mouth (resembled Stallone) said 'Uh' . I said 'Meatballs and spaghetti twice please' Retort? 'Uh'. Friend arrives and says 'meat balls and spaghetti two times'

Do Yanks speak English? NO

Back on topic. Bill-- How about meatballs and Spag on the menu? Be glad to bring a bruiser from Chicago to help. He could double as a bouncer

:D
