I had to leave them in Luxembourg Pete but they're going to come over some time, they're in for a shock because this place is strange!

Actually I wish I was there now as I've come down to Yeovil in Somerset to do some work on military helicopters and there is not much happening here on a Saturday night!
Steve,

So you are a helicopter mechanic? I have a good (Canadian) friend who lives in Hua Hin half time and does that off shore (oil rigs), or in the Middle East the other half of the time.

PM me when you're in town next and I'll get you two together to swap tales of the trade if you want.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

HH, I'm an Avionic technician and for the last ten years or so I've been working on airliners.
However I started off in the Navy working on helicopters and as the contract side of civil aviation is completely dead I've managed to get work on helicopters again. Luckily the company here is full of ex-navy men and it made it a little bit easier for me to get a job.
It's an unfortunate thing, but the ongoing war in Afghanistan means that the defence side of the industry is booming.
It's a novelty to me as I've been working on 747's for the last four years and some of these helicopters are smaller than one engine on the Boeings.
