I have a 'blue meany' buried next to my restaurant as a backup service water supply - never any algae but yes it has been cleaned out twice due to the crap water supply.

Terry, can you recommend a water tank cleaning service? I have (2) of the underground cement variety that I'm sure could use a cleaning.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Sorry - cannot - others may know

I have 7 staff at the lodge - this little activity is reserved for one or two of them during the quiet moments in the 'off' season

I was thinking 'how to do it' as well HHF. To get the water out you just need to shut your feed valve, turn on a tap or hose until it pumps down as far as it can. Then, hose and brush down the sides from above. I think there's a reservoir at the bottom below the out line that catches any sediment so it's not pumped into your system.

You could then use a pump truck that does the septic tanks but I don't know if they have a sanitary hose to use for that? No way I would want them to stick one of their poop hoses down there.

Another choice as Terry mentioned is to get a small guy down in there with a bucket, a scoop and some rags.

Yet another would be a shop-vac or similar.

Let us know if you do it and how. Pete

I have the bucket, scoop, and rags... the wife is small... I wonder what she'd say (or do) if I asked her to do it? :run:

Is it the same problem with the blue tanks if they are installed underground where no light can shine on them?
No, the algae need sunlight to grow. (Photosynthesis)
Yes, I know that but the black cover would be exposed to sunlight, hence the reason for asking.
