Well BB, in the 80's when I was vertical I was smoking :rasta: and drinking, which usually led to me being horizontal.

When I started out the evening with the intention of being horizontal, I don't think the ladies would have kept still long enough for me to include them in a landscape picture, no matter how picturesque it may have been.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

The (half view) shop in Pic 3 was there in 2000 and if I remember rightly there was a coffee shop opposite, so not before 1998. Am I right RC?

Edit sorry pic 4

Randy, the cow horned side-car food stall in your first post is still going strong; I saw it last week!

I didn't want to start a new thread for this so I'll pop it in here. You can purchase these. The internet seems barren concerning old photos for Hua Hin, or anywhere in Thailand for that matter. I would imagine there are photo archives somewhere which have been reproduced into coffee table books you can purchase from the upscale book shops.

A note about taking photos here which could be a cause for lack of old photos. Even in the late 60's early 70's finding 35mm film here was nearly impossible. The US military bases had it but outside those it was very difficult to find. If you arrived here as a tourist with one of those cartridge cameras that were popular then and ran out, forget any more photos. Just a guess as to why we can't find much from those days and earlier. Pete

Nice link Pete. Some really old stuff in there. I particularly liked that Bangkok Bar - don't remember going into that one before?

Thank you very much - you're obviously working hard at trying to find some old Hua Hin photos. Your efforts are appreciated

The British Embassy is in there from 190? as well. Could be nice for someone's house here. Pete

I don't know exactly when this was taken, but it's probably pre-war as it shows Hua Hin beach with almost no buildings at all:Image

That's brilliant Steve. Is that the one you were talking about on the postcard?

I'm sure it's from the same postcard, but I can't find that whole picture again.
It is amazing, after all the development that has gone on in Hua Hin, that picture of people in the sea could have been taken yesterday if you ignored the background.

Here's another postcard which must be from about the twenties when the Railway Hotel was built:

I think pic 4 is well after 98 KD. The greenery along the right of the pic wasn't there in 99 - there was a laundry there along with a clothes shop and at one point a restaurant. I've got some old photos somewhere of mainly Soi Kanjanomai around 2000, and also did a video walkabout of the whole Binta/Poolsuk block in 2002 which I might be able to get a copy of. Will need help to transfer it all to the site, but there seems to be a lot of interest now in archive HH stuff which is good. Unfortunately in the early 2000's we didn't have digital cameras, so it will take some time to get stuff together.
