Wish I had gotten one of those instead of what I did get as it put me off forever. Maybe I had the truck tire, license plate, stray native eating variety? Pete

Wikipedia has this to say about shark:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flake_(fish)

At any fish and chip shop that I have been in in Australia, you will pay more for any fish that is NOT shark.

I've been fortunate enough to encounter Whalesharks when diving in the Maldives some years ago. It is an incredible experience, as this "fish" can be bigger than a bus. I've got some cool photos which can be uploaded later.

Whalesharks have zero interest in us a food source, as they only eat plankton. Therefore if the water is cloudy with Plankton, the chances of seeing one of these great creatures is higher. Graceful as a ballerina

I know that they have been seen off Chumphon in the past, and if I knwo they are hanging around now....I'm off down there for sure!

As for those b*****ds chomping on Whaleshark Steak, hope it poisoned them!

i love eating fish as much as the next guy, but not the endangered ones!

Coming from a country where sharks are in abundance, I can promise you shark meat tastes nothing like swordfish.

I suppose some people acquire the taste but in my mind most shark meat doesn't taste good at all. Obviously millions of others agree with me because the meat isn't even widely available back home. With that said, most species are protected nowadays.

As far as eating whales is concerned........I'd rather not comment because no doubt I'll be called a racist.

I've seen hundreds of them lounging on Hua-Hin beach. Also no threat to humans as I doubt they could move fast enough to catch any prey :thumb:
