I always do the 24hr reporting, for peace of mind, takes 5 mins. Just in case the next visit to immigration, their procedures have changed, and they are now strictly enforcing this rule.

They issue a new 90 day notice date.

As mentioned earlier it takes 5 minutes if you live near immigration. What could they say if you told them you stayed in a hotel in Bangkok for 1 night and assumed they reported for you?

I have stayed over in Bangkok for a couple of nights so my 24 hour was late a few times. They checked the date of re entry and have always said it is OK as long as you report to Hua Hin as soon as you can as your arrival card is a report back into the country. I guess they have a discretion over this. I think (although I may be mistaken), there is a requirement which is never enforced that requires a report if you leave the province (although how they would know is a different matter unless you stayed in a hotel). Either way I just play safe and do the 24 hour thing.

i stayed 1 nite in bkk, the officer recognized that i entered at 23rd and reported at 25th only. no comment or question from his side. i just had to fill a new 90days reporting form which he signed and sealed.
the 90days started at 23rd.

Are people still doing the 24 hour report?
I arrived back in the country on Friday - afternoon to HH. As it's been the weekend, the first opportunity I've got is tomorrow. I did ask at Imm when I got my re-entry permit and the reply was that I should do the 24 hour thing.
I don't really want to be fined or cause any hassle as my annual extension is coming up in a couple of weeks. It's a right royal pain but I suppose I'll make an appearance tomorrow morning unless others tell me to forget the visit.

I can't believe everyone has gone to Imm within 24 hours of returning, but I haven't heard of anyone being fined for not doing so. We need to know, and as our resident immigration expert, lomu, I think you should wait and see.

You know you can rely on forum members to have a whip round to pay any fine...

Was there any follow up on this post in May, pitsch?

Did you declare all those spices and curry powder you carried back with you, Lumo?

Same with the 24 hour thing as far as I`m concerned.

I've never done it, and have never been asked about it when going to immigration for other things. Granted, never in Hua Hin and I think we talked many months ago that they had a campaign on in the past to enforce it, but I've never read that any other office has. My Rayong office has a list of things and the time it will take an officer to complete each, and it's a long list. 24 hour reporting is not on there. Pete

I'll go tomorrow (no Chang after 8pm tonight) and try and find out more.
Nereus,
No didn't declare anything. After the fascists at Bangalore airport confiscated my pickles I'd have probably ended up with nothing if Thai customs had got their hands on things :cuss:

I arrived back in the country on Thursday and went to HH Immigration on Friday as it's not far for me. I didn't bother doing it last time round and waited until my next extension was due, although that would only have been a couple of weeks later.

On getting my re-entry permit this time round, I asked if I was required to report when I got back to Thailand. I was told "yes, if convenient", "if not convenient count 90 days then come in". It wasn't quite the decisive answer I was looking for, so just went in to see them with the form and was in and out in a couple of minutes.

So I'm none the wiser.

I frequently travel abroad over many years.. on return, may stay one night in BKK then to Hua Hin. Have never ever reported within 24 hours... just do my normal 90 day report. And no one at Immigration has ever raised the question about 24 hour reporting.
