Whilst the Fila deserves the number 1 spot I would have thought the Shepherds would have come higher rated. I keep a medium sized soi dog which reacts faster than the alarm system so earns his fodder. Bang Keaw have a good reputation here although I have never kept one.

Crazy: Nice doggie website!
Ive had Bang Keaws for the past 4 yrs. They are alert and watchful, protective of home and family devoted to their masters and family. Agile and active, they are strong swimmers and voracious diggers. They are highly intelligent but can be stubborn and will benefit from training. Positive reinforcement methods work best with this breed.
I should have called mine 'Relentless' as lots of energy
and no fear from soi dogs, people, snakes etc. If you want a quiet life i would not recommend this breed unless well trained. For me I love it part of the family now!!
They also like barking at strangers ALOT. I can understand why many Thai people are wary of them.
Then all you have to worry about is the dog attacking you or your family.
I can assure you, hell would freeze over before my Rottweiler attacked anyone, let alone someone in my family. There are a couple of members on here that can confirm that as well.
Not all Rottweilers are aggressive, and the same applies to breeds like the Pitbull. If you ask me, the are several more aggressive breeds, but the advantage of a Rottweilers lies with appearance and all the bad press they've received. The Rottweiler I have is without a doubt the most pleasant dog I've ever owned, and she is an absolute gem with the kids - a perfect little "mini" horse....lol.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact
I use everything mentioned in the OP (alarms, camera, motion detectors, lighting, dogs) except bars on the windows and doors. No problems yet (me knocking wood).
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

That's the way I see it, what's the point in cameras and recording kit when the police just scratch their arses and ask for coin when presented with evidence and a crime to solve.
Some big powerful motion detecting halogen lamps and a deafening internal alarm system along with the odd booby trap would be my choice.

Agree. I only have one camera (no recorder) that is viewable online. I use it more to monitor the help (like a nanny cam) when I am out of town rather than as a burglary deterrent.

Agree about the cameras, they are mostly useful for businesses, but there are some interesting developments. For $150 you can get a camera attached to an alarm system that will contact you via the local 3G network, and it has a speaker so you can tell the intruders they are being recorded and watched by the police, admittedly only useful if you have a Thai friend nearby.
In my opinion a nice big siren that is flashing all the time serves as the best deterrent.
