beer prices
Re: beer prices
Everything under a 80 seems reasonable to me. I suppose the bars charge the same prices for Shinga, Chang and so on and other prices for imported stuff?
Re: beer prices
Actually, as this thread is still running, what do you guys pay for Beer Lao in HH? One of the outlets in a town near me sells a 640ml bottle for 1.49 GBP. Which is great value. Chanced upon this the other week.

Re: beer prices
Not HH but found it at Villa Pattaya about a month ago and if I recall correctly it was 42 Baht for a regular size small bottle. Would assume that's about standard everywhere for a non-bar price. Another good thing was that it was the only beer on the shelves that had a bottle date of less than 2 months old, it was about 3 weeks. Pete

Totalled up, I guess that makes it about the same price I paid in the uk? Can't be bad and a good find methinks (hic)!prcscct wrote:Not HH but found it at Villa Pattaya about a month ago and if I recall correctly it was 42 Baht for a regular size small bottle.

Re: beer prices
Villa in Hua Hin has it sometimes now. The Dark is 65 per small bottle. I think the lager is a little (maybe 5 baht) less. I wonder why the same supermarket chain in Pattaya would sell it for so much less. I guess like with many other things, Hua Hin is one of the most expensive places to live in Thailand.

Re: beer prices
Where exactly did you find it caller? Was it a local corner shop, or was it a national chain that I might find in the Bristol area? I've never tried Beer Lao, and would like to give it a try.

Re: beer prices
You won't be disappointed Big Boy, it's (imho) better than any Thai beer.

Re: beer prices
Good to see the return of Carlsberg! Last night I did the rounds on the Bintabaht! I found Carlsberg in three venues and prices varied from 80 to a cool 160 baht each! The U Turn was charging a reasonable 80 baht and the London Bar 160 baht for one Carlsberg! Yes I inquired if this was an error and was told not many people drink it! Why this justifies Soi Cowboy pricing, I don't know? Thay maybe the last beer I'll consume in the London Bar. Even the air-conditioned El Murphy's only charges 105 baht and the entertainment is much better! Check the price before you order in this venue!

This is the way
Re: beer prices
The HILTON has a bar--The Tugboat SOS bar overlooking the main street--I find it amazing that the drinks in this Hilton Bar are cheaper than in the small bars in the soi opposite, mixed drinks are 100baht.
Re: beer prices
Little Supermarket in Cha Am sells Laos, it's better than Thai beer but I wouldn't go overboard about it.
Re: beer prices
The hilton bar must have changed prices! 100 baht for a mixed drink? I have never seen a beer or mixed drink for that price. I thought it was 200 baht for a drink? Not like it is going to change my mind to visit the bar. For a two month trip I will go there maybe 2 times for a total of two hours.
Re: beer prices
Apologies BB, I missed your post. I found it in one of these places, having been dragged in there by my better half. Why is it Thais can sniff these places out from a mile away? I had never even noticed it before, and this time had a pleasant surprise!Big Boy wrote:Where exactly did you find it caller?
