Auto lighting, CCTV (inside & out), Alarms, Metal frames inside the windows/doors, Doors with both security hinges & three way bolts, and an electric fence - that's what i've eventually had to install, and we have no guarantees it'll work.
I've felt the electric fence when i touched the banana tree one day and would like the full-tilt of touching the wires.

Last time we were broken-in to, they spent 3days around the place and took all the small items with them. The people on the estate saw them going in/out the back door and thought they were regular workers doing a job for us. These guys were from Ratburi (spelling) and we did hear they got caught earlier this year. At the time of the break-in first thing the police offered was to look after the house by regular checking - 2,000/month. Wife was not too keen on this option but did it for around 2 yrs and then stopped when their regularity changed.
