I'm afraid I also have serious doubts about the way pk67's post was written - much too much gaudy detail. And pk - if you know the drug used for spiking why not name it?
It doesn't hang together. Then when Romantic Bar was accused it totally fell to bits IMO. That is the last bar on the Binta to ever be involved in what the staff are being accused of here.
Non of it makes sense either for another reason - take a couple in a bar. A small bar like Romantic. They sit together surely? Either at the bar or at a small table? Lets assume one of them goes to the loo. So the other sits with the drinks as a rule - together of course with the cameras and other paraphenalia of tourism. How often do they both vacate their seats at the same time? Its bullshit. Same goes of course for the alleged Bangkok incident.
Don't worry US we are behind you darl. (Mines a Sangsom btw early December - I gather you are back soon?)

Ever since I arrived here in 1997, I have never had a drink spiked, so I guess I must be unlucky

Before getting married, I traveled all over Thailand, and I've drank in some of the country's most questionable venues, and never had a stitch of bother yet? Surely an offshore worker, single, and buying drinks like there's no tomorrow would have been an ideal target. I've even slept in a few Bangkok Go-Go bars way back then, and I never had any trouble.

OP....perhaps delayed jet lag? Adjusting to climate? Spiked drinks................I honestly doubt it. Now, if you can let me know what drug was used (you did say it was cheap), I could slash my Change budget in half.

We also don't believe a word of this, maybe the op either can't take as much drink as he thinks he can. but we rate the Romantic bar as one of the best in Hua Hin. I don't venture down that area very much but when I do I always use this bar. My husband uses it quite a lot and we have never ever had anything but good service here. Chris and Puy run a great bar and treat the girls well. The girls are very friendly but not pushy,in fact my husband has never been asked by any of the girls there to buy her a drink. We will carry on using this bar and would recommend it to everyone, in fact even my Mum who is nearly 80 has been in and had a lovely time.

I was just waiting for this before i made comment, firstly how many people come to Hua Hin and stay in the same small bar all night highly unlikly being at the bottom of the Bintabaht and his mrs got spiked in Bangers only five days previous, this is all a load of rubbish in my opinion.

Now with spiking drinks it has happened to a mate of mine down soi cowboy, no uncontrollable laughter pissing in rooms or five hours of mayhem it was ten hours sleep and another twelve hours for him to realise what day of the week it was compleate memory loss.

Now i Have never met C, the owner of this bar but i have drunk in there over the years i had a couple of good drinks this year with our Richard from the forum, the girls are sound and do there job well, and they dont scrimp on the mesures i drank beers and the same as our Richard whisky lime and soda good happy mesures in my opinion a well run little bar i will go back to every visit to Hua Hin.

Now i just think spite here always someone in Hua Hin trying to shaft someone else, maybe another bar owner.



DONT STAY AWAY FROM THIS SMALL LITTLE BAR ITS ONE OF THE BEST ON THE BINTA BLOCK.

Been using the bar ever since it was opened. My guess is you are a troll or a jealous competitor who can easily see from your empty struggling bar that it the best bar run in town and about the only successful one

How about the mods doing some IP comparisons to shame members who switch handles during a session or at least send a warning?

IP comparisons are useless in Thailand as the providers work on a dynamic IP system which change the addresses from an IP pool frequently. All we'll glean is the country and provider, since half of the Hua Hin members use TOT and the other half TT&T (3BB), with a sprinkling of people using True, it will tell us nothing really.

Shame if true but sadly this is the nature of the beast when doing business in Hua Hin, too many jealous competitors out there and too small a pie to go around.

A few years ago,i seen Puy walking around the bars looking for some guy,he had forgotten to take his wallet with credit cards the lot.Thats how honest that bar is.

I would have thought you maybe able to catch a few as if they change username during an IP session then they'll have the same IP with a different username. I know it's not the same as if they had a fixed ip then you'd get them all the time. Some IP sessions last a very long time, especially if they don't switch the router off.

The problem of many users sharing the same IP still exists - also there are far too many spurious members to monitor these days - it would be a full time job for someone!!

I have been visiting HH for over 10 years and my wife and I are regular costomers at Romantic bar when we are in town. I count Chris & Pouy as friends. I find it very hard to believe that drink spiking goes on in their bar, you could not meet nicer people. The bar staff have always been more then a delight to deal with.

I would have thought the odd (select username, ipaddress from logintable where date is today or a timerange and order by IP) would throw up clues to multi username violations and expose the bastards

But as you say it's an investigation job which takes time!

I have never been in the Romantic Bar as I am heartily sick of all the girl-hassle, high prices and noise of Soi GiveMeBaht but I agree this story does sound implausable. Of course spiking drinks can occur anywhere in the world but always with a motive of theft. Never heard of it to one half of a couple. Doesn't make any sense at all

i must say ive been here years and never heard any bad comments about the bar only good and i dont think ive ever been in it,so i have not got any vested interested in the bar,just feel the op may be wrong and maybe he had too many changs

Yep gotta agree with most the posts about the bar in question....

I have met Chris a couple of times and he was an absolutely sound fella. Loved his little customised sonic he had and helped me sell mine to one of his regulars. Nice chap and good bar in my book.
