That's fair enough, Pete and I've always felt the same way - almost to a word. If things get on top of you too much here, then it's time to go home.
However, Dawn's experience was of violence and abuse. I've had it here from an old girlfriend and I assure you it's scary.
A million miles away from home and where are the authorities to back you up as a human being?

Fortunately I had no reason to have dealings with the police while in Thailand. However your comments could apply to the police anywhere in the world, espwcially the UK.
All they are interested in doing is the easy stuff. Speeding is the flavour of the month at the moment. Strange how they seem to have the manpower to catch motorists, but don't bother if your home or car gets broken into.
Look at it this way, at least the sun shines in HH!

Do you really think that this is limited to the UK?
It's the same thing all over Europe and not especially in the UK!

I think the main difference between the police here & in Europe etc is that you feel you can complain to a superior or governing body if you are not treated in the way you expect in European countries. From what I've heard, that would not only do no good here, but you could be opening yourself to a whole other lot of bother with officialdom, especially as a farang.
The comment about the dogs was a good one Norseman - problem is he used to live with me, so the dogs all know him. I bet no-one else would try & break into my garden, though!! :)
"The question is not, can they reason? Nor, can they talk? But, can they suffer?" - Jeremy Bentham, philosopher, 1748-1832
