Don't want too sound negative here, but it's a 'roll of the dice' whenever you take a bus anywhere here in Thailand and you might as well call most of the services 'Dan Dare Air'.
As for sensible minivan drivers........is that a rhetorical question?
Sure there are some but you'll never really know until you set off with them, and then it's too late.

Kendo..a VIP bus leaves HH Southern BS at about 7.00 each evening..it's come from Phuket, and goes to Surin (I think)..I've used it to Korat..big leather seats, Wi-Fi all the way, TVs in seat-backs so no blaring Thai soaps (like other buses). It's blue & white with a big palm tree motif on back corner..if booking ask for the bus from Phuket..they'll know.

Dragging this one up again
Does anybody have any more precise departure times please? This is my chance to get rid of the extended family, but they want a morning departure.

As US directed me to the new bus station we booked there onto this big tri axle orange coach leaves early evening around 8.30 but check that time, gets into Surin at 03.30.
The cost was around 600 -700 baht each.
