Mr Rahul

Maybe apply for a job at The Aspen Suites in Bangkok. Im sure the Manager Phenruedee Asavasagsakui would give you a job .By the sounds of it you both are the only people with the master keys and SURPRISE money went missing from my safety deposit box

Stay away from the COMPASS group as they just wipe their hands of any complaints

Hi Aussie Mark: Seems we both have the same problem now, all the excuses are coming out now we have left and returned to Australia, eg: maybe check if your girlfriend took the money,
maybe you misplaced the money when you were out drinking, I have called the police and am waiting for their response, I am checking the CCTV footage and will inform you. Not much good to us when we are back in Australia. we will not stay at Citin Loft if he is still the Manager.
Last stay we had 10 rooms over a period of 25 days. Maybe he could get a job at 7-11 or a 24 petrol station in Australia!!!!!

Hotels might take responsibility for items given for safekeeping directly to them (e.g. safe boxes behind the reception) and registered as such. You will understand that otherwise any guest at any moment can claim any amount in cash gone missing from his room safe. Ask travel insurance companies about the percentage of bogus claims through which people try to (partly) fund their holidays.

PS I am NOT saying this applies to Grassman's claim.

Point taken ! And I agree about safes ..this post was not to get our money back !! It's gone like we want this current manager to do !!!!

6 weeks a year by 5 rooms is approx 300,000 Baht this hotel will lose if he does not go so this is for you mate ..my friends & I will hound your bosses until you go .....

P.s this thread is dead I think cheers

Last stay we had 10 rooms over a period of 25 days.
Did any of the other 8 occupants have any trouble with theft?
I had $5000 in mine my friend over 3000 so if it's the thai girl friends why not take the lot !!!!!!! Because they did not take it .. The one that did it only took a slice to think we got drunk & spent more than we think etc it's a joke .
That's normally exactly how it's done here I'm afraid. Take the whole lot and they have no chance, take a wee bit after a heavy night and you have no argument/leg to stand on here. Unfortunate, but that's the brutal truth of it all.

Either way I hope you both get to the bottom of it in regards to where your money went as you are in no way talking about chump change here - it's a good chunk of cash.

Hi there everyone. Thought I might join in this thread (my 1st post). I am grassmans' fellow robbee, $500 Aussie. Not normally one to worry about getting involved, but felt strongly enough to throw my hat in the ring! I know 100% that the money is missing because it was not my money. It was in a separate bundle ($2000) that my son had given to me to exchange for him for his trip to LOS in July. I had no reason to touch it until a day or 2 before returning to Oz. When I confronted Gupta about the missing money my girl was with me and I told him at that time, " have no doubt about her, you need to look elsewhere'. His reply to me was "No sir, I don't think it was her". My girl is really well looked after and has no reason to steal from me. As for Gupta to now question the character of my women is the act of a desperate little weasel! Why is Gupta now throwing around theories when he says that he has involved the police (CRAP, I think) and is also viewing CCTV footage, (probably in the edit suite). We have been back in Oz for nearly 2 weeks now, how long does it take to view this footage? He told me he would E-mail me regardless of what he found. I expect I will be waiting for a long time yet. The $500 is history but I think Guptas' actions or inactions and his behavior have a certain smell! I can't help but have a huge question mark about him. I loved staying at the Citinloft and have many friends there, but together with my friends will not stay there while they have a rat in charge of the cheese! :tsk: Cheers all. JeffS

Hello Rahul: We hope you have found a job away from Citin loft so we can come back and see our friends again. We are still waiting for your reply on the CCTV footage and would like a copy of the police report. I think we will meet Santa Claus before we get your reply!!!!!!!!!!
They are always looking for people at the 7/11 stores here in Australia, but they have and USE
CCTV so I think you should forget about coming to Australia...

This topic is farcical IMO. Let's get real for a moment.
People in the hotel industry who want to work in SE Asia are usually cherry picked for those posts by their employer - and after proving themselves elsewhere.
No-one leaves $3000 dollars in a hotel room safe.
No one believes that their Thai lady is above stealing the aforementioned $3000 - or part of it - simply because she has everything she needs provided for her on a plate.
And no one ever believes that they will be recompensed for any losses from a hotel in Thailand.
A sprout is for life - not just for Christmas.

Sorry Mrs Margaret

I always carry cash to Thailand usually around 10k Aussie when I come for my holiday .The hotel where my cash went missing in Bangkok has had several some's of money go missing ,you only have to check trip advisors website .Very strange that the other chaps money went missing and both hotels are part of the Compass group

I had my cash in separate $1000 bundles and there was $200 missing out of one and the other $1000 bundles had had a few notes missing out of each bundle

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Aussie Mark - but the fact is that people shouldn't ever travel with more cash than they can afford to lose. There are other ways to deal with travel cash which are much safer.

G'day again all. JeffS here. Cannot believe what I am reading from this margaretcarnes. 'If'n ya cain't say nuth'n nice, don't say nuth'n at all' Thumper. Thumper? More like Wanker! What was that? No one believes that their Thai lady is above stealing money. Well here is one little black duck that does! Listen here MEGSY, trust me on this one, my fiancee is not involved in this. So if you don't have anything nice to say,(your principle), then don't stick your beak in! If'n ya thinkin' this topic is farcical (IYO), then why comment! In regards to your comment that "No one should travel with more money than they can afford to lose", your right, and I didn't! Doesn't mean that some low life can help himself to my petty cash! Doh! Back into the kitchen DARLS'. :neener:

But I think that a lesson learnt is that if you do have a sizeable amount of cash, then put most of it in the hotel safe deposit box in the lobby and just keep a few days worth of cash in your room safe/wallet.

Oh dear! You Sir now look a right Twat! Mags is a very respected member of our small community and probably knows more about Thailand than you do your own toenails.

The 12th post down on the first page is ringing truer and truer as time goes on...

I would not be entirely confident about the security of those deposit boxes in some hotel lobbies either.

All too easy for someone to open up a few during the quiet night-shift hours and remove a few banknotes where it may not be immediately detected when the visitor next accesses their safe box.

The room safe boxes are even less secure as most are fitted with an override key for management to use instead of the keypad combination lock.

This topic has already gone way off course.

We accept that it is very emotional when money goes missing, or girlfriends are accused. If you want this discussion to continue, please tone down the language. Otherwise, we will have no option but to lock the thread.
