It's nothing like the 70s and 80s anymore.
There's hardly an atmosphere, nevermind rioting.
That above is disgusting but it's an isolated incident and he'll get a life ban.

Football reflects our society, not the other way around. Its been like that since day one.
And it reflects it in so many ways when you look at its modern hostory. Class, subservience, emerging workers rights, events off the pitch, fanbases and so on.
I'm one of those that is fortunate enough to support a club that my family all grew up living 5-minutes from. But only an aged aunt lives there now. I have cousins all down the A3 corrider, in Bristol, a whole base in the Romford area and as far afield as Australia, all that change in one generation and all their kids support the team as well with the exception of the odd heretic.
Hua Hins in danger of beecoming a Spurs Hub for Gawds sake!

I'd say Football fans are pretty well self policed, even getting on a players back at Anfield you're likely to be told to shut it.
Racist or Munich stuff would likely earn you a crack.
I don't go as much as I did, having a young lad, but I've never even seen the threat of violence at Anfield. My brother goes 10 or 15 times a year, never anything mentioned.
We have however had pitch invasions by a Cat, Pigeon and a bloody beach ball in recent years.
