HH Immigration Dept moving location
Re: HH Immigration Dept moving location
There is now a sign facing Phetkasem Rd near the Police Station traffic lights saying that Immigration are to move to the building

Yes, very true about the Colonnade. I like you have never ventured down there to have a look.Takiap wrote:BB, there's free parking available at the Colonnade Mall, or at least that's what a sign outside says. I've not tried parking there yet, so I can't say how much space is available. Alternatively, you can park your car in the Tessabaan car park. Not sure if you're welcome to do so, but I've parked there many times and I've never been questioned.
Not sure if you can do it at night though, but during the day, they just assume you're visiting the Tessabaan offices.
Regarding the Tessabaan, I've never found an empty space there yet.

I parked in the Colonnade on Monday for the first time. The roof entrance is low but still ok for a pickup or SUV. Not that big, but probably space for about 30 vehicles. A guy watched me park but never said a thing but when I came back 15 minutes later, he waved me out of the car park and onto the road. If you are in the area, give it a try.Big Boy wrote:Yes, very true about the Colonnade. A couple of weeks ago I was waiting for something to be repaired on 3rd floor of shopping mall so I took a walk in the Collonade while waiting as I haven't been since soon after it's opening. There is nothing, even less than the nothing when it first opened ! Many empty units.

It certainly opens for lunch as I went there for lunch after doing my first extension of stay. We were the only ones there though. I think most restaurants are generally busier at night, though, aren't they?Frank Hovis wrote:Slightly off-topic but... I drove past the Three Girls restaurant tonight and the car park was completely full.
Maybe it only opens at night?
I'm pretty sure the immigration staff get their food from there too.

This is great news, if true. I live on Soi 80, so they'll be only a short walk away.

Re: HH Immigration Dept moving location
was driving past immigration today so decided to stop and look, there are no signs or notices up mentioning any potential move, there was a cop at the immigration police, that's the little box to the right of immigration office he did not know of any move to a new location.
Probably the only way anyone will know for sure is the day someone goes and finds it is closed.

Re: HH Immigration Dept moving location
Went to Immigration today to do my yearly renewal and asked about the potential move, the Immigration officer advised that they ARE moving to the police station location on the corner of Phetkasem and Damnoern Kasem Road, opposite the main post office. Move is planned before the end of this year but as the official said "You know Thailand, if told before end of this year it will be next year" nice to know he had a sense of humour.
Immigration will be putting a notice up when the date is confirmed.
Another point on renewals is that Immigration will no longer accept just a letter from the bank confirming your cash in bank they want a copy of your bank book and to sight the actual book. As I had not updated my bank book my book value did not match my letter value and I was told to ensure they match next time.

Where is it now? I see the sign saying 3km ahead, but I see no more signs after that. I need to go this week to get a verification of address for a Thai Driver's License. A map would be helpful if possible. Thanks.

Turn into soi 11 by Hua Hin hospital, then left at the T junction (the canal road). It's just there on your left.

I think that you will find that is Soi 10, not 11.dtaai-maai wrote:Turn into soi 11 by Hua Hin hospital, then left at the T junction (the canal road). It's just there on your left.
Immigration is around the bottom corner of D4 on this map: http://www.huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin-area-map.htm

Thanks! I will try and find it tomorrow. Found the DMV in Pranburi today. Went for a trial run while out at Macro shopping.

Re: HH Immigration Dept moving location
... and back to the topic of Immigration moving: stupidly, went out to Imm 2 days ago (wild goose chase), and, equally stupidly, forgot to ask about the Imm Office moving to the downtown location.
Has anyone, very recently, heard that this move is happening? Or otherwise.
