180 baht to the centre of BK... Nothing cheaper or quicker than that.
One piece of advice I would put forward - Avoid the back seats, bloody uncomfortable.
I think we have to put it into perspective, the chances of you being involved in an accident in a minivan is quite low, although it would appear to be a fair bit higher than any of the other forms of transport available. If you think about the number of minivans just on the HH- BKK route every day, you don't hear of many accidents. I have only done it once and that was a few years ago and whilst I don't recall us having any real near misses, he was travelling faster than I felt comfortable with - maybe the recent speed reductions have made it an acceptable proposition?

I did my usual Monday morning commute back to Bangkok very early this morning. With little traffic on the road, I can usually drive from Hua Hin to Rama III in approximately 2 hours. Obviously I am not hanging around and usually do not drop below 120kph on the open roads. The only vehicles that regularly pass me at high speed are these mini busses. The speed reductions applied to these mini busses may have worked for a short while but now they are back to their normal insane speeds.

I've used several different companies and IME the safest, most responsible drivers seem to be the ones from the depot just off Chomsin near the wet market. Taxi drivers can be dickheads, either crawling or thinking its a Grand Prix or yammering on the phone to their pals. There aren't any really great choices unless you have the time to take the train.
