Re: Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.
Gregjam..it seemed a bit strange when further South they've spent lots of time & money 'improving' the ditch/Klong..? IF a new road was gonna go down MV side of the railway to the end, then I'd have thought the diggers woulda shifted the klong over a bit..?
It does rather seem that from Soi 88 all the way to the 'flyover', yes the fence has been erected, but no real plan seems to have been laid down yet or followed..??...Time will tell I guess.

Re: Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.
Remember reading in BK Post many months back that all land 30 metres from rail line is being reclaimed by the railway as soon as leases run out. This is for the introduction of high speed track.
They made such an arse of leveling the ground to put up the fence along this stretch, maybe the residents had something to say?
Saw a large road roller on that stretch last Wednesday so it has been compacted, but surely a concrete road would last better, with the amount of traffic using it to avoiding crossing the rail line.
The reclamation of land by the railway would also see the demise of the "chicken shop" causing problems on the Bangkokian thread, along with all shops on that side of the street.
Where the super highway which is being built on the Klong road goes when it hits the 3218 is any bodies guess? Probably another super bottle neck!!
Thought just struck me, with introduction of high speed trains are we going to see high speed RTAs on the soi 94 crossing? Maybe it will be elevated track specially in urban areas or would that be too simple?
Has anyone pre info on the grand scheme of what is on going?
Never worries me, Just interested.

The tarmac is surely only a temporary measure until they concrete and widen it? That is just a matter of time, with Hua Hin developing as it is.
However long it lasts, it was a pleasure driving to MV and I and my abused spine shall enjoy the lack of potholes without griping about how bad Thailand is.
Newsflash! Just hear a new chicken restaurant is opening up on this section and word is spreading amongst the Hi-So Thais.

I think you might have heard wrong Richard old boy. The council won't allow building to take place unless there's a public road providing access to all the properties. I know because we had a bloody nightmare when we were building our place, despite the fact that there was already a road. In the end, the person that owned the land at the end of the road had to give a four meter strip through her land to the council before they would grant any building permits. I should add, the Thai owner did this and refused to accept any payment from those of us who were quite literally at her mercy.
As for the high spped train and the unguarded crossing..........rumor has it they're going to put down a few more speed bumps, and that the new high speed train will be fitted with a state of the art nudge bar on the front of it.

Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact
Re: Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.
Mojo pointed out that traffic will pull out of this track onto Soi 94 using the 'free left turn'.
Yes, of course they will do that but if they cause an accident then they will be at fault as there is no such thing as a 'free left turn' except when there is a sign allowing you to do so. Even then, you have to give way to other traffic. Turning left the 'thai way' is one of those practices that really does cause accidents.

Re: Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.
Chaspul mentioned future plans for the 'Chicken R/rant'..? I've seen the plans the SRT dished-out 2yrs ago, & the plan then was the Chicken place would have it's front area 'shaved' by 3-4 metres..as a clue check the positioning of the new(ish) mini-mart building (coming back from them towards the station.)..it's set nicely back from the road.
BUT..since that notice, I did hear a rumour that the new road MAY go the other side of the rail-line, & would shave the edge of HH golf course all along to Soi 88...(keeping thru-traffic West of the line same as on the Klong Rd) ... ????

Re: Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.
Certainly a good road along there would be a lot more use to me than a few metres of golf course. Also, if they're eventually going to build an elevated high speed rail line, they may as well stick a decent road underneath the thing as well.... Re: Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.
Maybe your article post dates what I remember reading, but ISTR that the reclaimed space was to allow dual-track routing for the existing train services, not for the high-speed rail which as mentioned above would be an elevated track.chaspul wrote:Remember reading in BK Post many months back that all land 30 metres from rail line is being reclaimed by the railway as soon as leases run out. Eliminating single-track service between Bangkok and the south would shave a lot of time off the journey as it would eliminate trains waiting at stations and side rails for oncoming trains to pass.

Re: Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.
Getting back to the new bit of road along the rear of MV/Tesco's..a couple of speed bumps have now appeared at the Soi 94 end, plus..(here's the kicker)...some new signs I've not seen in Thailand before..??
I would hazzard a guess that this new strip of 'black-top' may now have a one-way system in force..but only for 4-wheel vehicles...the signs (about 3 in all) show a car with a line thru' it,- then some fancy statement below..being I trust a direct translation of a Thai phrase regarding rights of way..??
I'm sorry I have no photo of these signs, but this may just be what the MIB need to fine motorists along here..???

Re: Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.
Chris, a sign showing a car with a line through it means ....... NO BLOODY CARS! There's been a sign outside the Hilton for years to stop cars going ahead into the one way system. Sounds like that road is for bikes only which is a little surprising.
Re: Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.
No it isn't. It is one way for cars coming from Soi 88. The 3 no car signs are all facing 94.HHTel wrote:Sounds like that road is for bikes only...

Re: Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.
Well it DOES make the trip to MV a fair bit easier from the West/North side of town..pop down that road, left, in, round, dump your m/cycle & into Tesco..saves going round & down 94 each time.
But today as I rode in to the MV area slowly, & looked right to see if any access was being created for cars to come in off '88's side' & enter the new multi-storey..nah..if you're in a 4-wheeler you gotta join the queue/jam on Petkasem same as ever..ho-hum.
