Has anyone confirmed the 2-hour delay? The fire obviously wasn't 'last night' as reported, and looking at the top photo, if it took 2 hours for the fire brigade to get there, I'm surprised half of Hua Hin didn't go up in flames.
This is the way

Quite a few bars have been burnt down including Nice+Easy, Cheers Bar, & others according to my Dragon..Has anyone on the forum got more info about this..??
p.s. Our girls say it was 2 hours after the fire had started that the HH Fire Service arrived.. :banghead:
If its true, it sounds like the start of the proposed redevelopment!!
You may very well be correct, Dannie Boy. The fact that it supposedly took the fire department two hours to get there would confirm your theory. We will see if the bars are rebuilt.

My initial report of a 2 hour delay for the fire-crew was only what our girls had relayed to my wife..
.. so those 2 hours must be 'Thai-time'..?
And yes..2 hours of burning wooden building would result in a pile of ashes one would suspect.
I DO hope no one was injured..?

I'm surprised there have not been fires in those ram-shackled buildings before

If you've taken a look round some you will know the wiring is crap and they are overrun with rats and vermin. Rats like to chew through wires etc

Overnight some of the the left over girls are sleeping downstairs or upstairs in a stupor after their 12 hour drinking session and some may well cook up a dish on the gas wok in the rear of the building. Fans are left fully on to keep the places cool and mossies away

The fire brigade were probably all still 'lao khowed' or at home not answering their mobiles. Access via the temple would still be locked up so access from Poonsuk would have been impossible for a large fire truck.

The cause of the fire and the late arrival of the fire services will of course be fully covered in a report....Won't it?

I'm sure the landlords had the places fully covered by an insurance company
Are lease owners insured as well?

Whatever the cause it's been a very sad day for the Binta. Thankfully no casualties by the sound of it.
I'm guessing you are back home at the mo US - it must be very worrying but the lasses will cope. Probably even use it as a tourist attraction?

From what I've been told, the two new properties will house the Binta Coffee Club and the Binta Laundromat. Apparently a car wash place was on the cards, but town planners feel that it would likely cause a disruption to traffic.

Had my occasional Brunch of Som Tam and chicken at Romantic bar this morning. The street word (pinch of salt needed) was it was an electrical fault and the girls (3 to 5) sleeping upstairs escaped out the back. That would seem to signify the fire started downstairs. Viking bar down (eastwards) to the gap before the mom and pop shop is wrecked. All else open this morning

Judging from the pics it doesn't seem to me the FD took two hours.
Surely these wooden shacks would have been ashes by the time two hours had passed. Or maybe the patrons had a group pee to manage the blaze before the FD arrived?
