No choice in BKK. You need to watch it whilst you are waiting to be served. However licence process is simple and certainly no need to bribe any official. The tests are simple and even if you get them wrong they simply ask you to try again until you get them right. could not be more simple and straightforward.

Yes really. Everyone needs to wait in the same area and the safety film is shown on a continuous loop. You get to see it at least once before you are called to do the sight and reaction tests.

Definitely a different film. The one that I need to endure is about 20 minutes followed by a short video of the reaction and sight tests that you are about to take.

The one I sat through was 45 minutes long and was only shown 2 times per day in Pranburi so if you timed it wrong, you had to sit a while to wait for the next showing.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
The original one year license, and the following 5 year license were issued at Pranburi.
I live in Hua Hin, but would like to do the renewal at Cha Am if possible as it will be much more convenient for me.
Will Cha Am do the renewal for a Hua Hin resident with a Pranburi issued license?
I have a yellow book issued four years ago confirming my address, do I also need an up to date letter from immigration to confirm my address.
Maybe the O.P. has some form of defective vision..??
Otherwise a trip to the test-centre on the far side of Cha-Am is not really a problem..get there before 8.30 am..simple eye, & reaction test, plus the 'alignment' task, then wait for your licence to be processed (providing you've submitted all the relevant paperwork, not forgetting the photos.. plus about 4 copies of everything)
As a footnote may I mention to you all that the centre there beyond Cha-Am DOES now have a photocopier inside the building...finally!

Thanks for any info.
I got my first one year driving licence from Cha Am when I was living in HH although when I got my 5 year licence I had moved to Cha Am district, but doubt there will be any problem for you - Cha Am seem to be very easy going providing you have the correct paperwork. If you have a yellow book, you won't need a letter from immigration.

Reem.. the centre beyond Cha-Am in Na-Yang (or is it Ta Yang?) will process you no problem..no need to worry...and at this test centre it's much quieter & easier to do than busy Pranburi.
Renewed mine last week (had a one-year before, got the 5-year license) in Pranburi. It had expired about 10 days before that.
It was very fast. Had to look at that giant poster on the wall and say "yellow, red, green" but no other tests. No video either. I was in and out in 20 minutes.
