Rumors suggest Rio Ferdinand could be on his way to Spurs, here's what his partnership with Dawson could look like:

another Spurs manager
5 year contract - wow! That's a hell of a lot of compensation to pay out.

Only 14 months experience in the premiership, decent side at the Saints, at their best on a par with spurs, but faded for a bit last season.

Doesn't speak a word of English.

Interesting.

Hopefully it means that, against the trend, Spurs are prepared to give him some serious time.
Apparently, he speaks good English, but chooses not to at press conferences, which makes perfect sense to me! Levy may have other ideas, we'll see.
If it was de Boer or Pochettino, I think this is a good choice. Success with Ajax doesn't necessarily translate to the Premier League.
Difficult to equate the performances of Spurs and the Saints last season - Spurs were hugely disappointing all round, while Southampton got off to a flier then fell back. Spurs pre-season expectations not met, Southampton's probably exceeded.

I wonder if he has any clout with Luke Shaw?

Apparently he does speak reasonable English and has been told not to use an interpreter at Spurs.

Maybe not Luke Shaw, but there is every chance he will get Adam Lallana

Looks like Rickie Lambert is off to Liverpool. Presumably that's Rodgers plan B if Suarez and Sturridge have an off day? Have to say I'm somewhat surprised by that, for a start he's 32 and doesn't seem an obvious fit.

Looks like Southampton are going to be decimated. I can see them losing an additional 3-players as well.

Yes, I've just been reading about that and am also surprised. From Liverpool's point of view, maybe he's handy (and cheap) cover for League Cup games, etc., but from his own point of view he's obviously not going to get much time on the pitch. Maybe he just fancies a quiet season with a the added possibility of some silverware? Or maybe he just fancies a really big club before he retires?
I think he'd have done better to go to West Ham.

Look at it from Lamberts point of view.....as you say,he's 32 now but he's going to the World Cup in Brazil and Liverpool can offer him Champions League football.
Not many chances for a 32 year old striker to achieve that, even if his playing time will be limited.
I remember him playing for Macclesfield Town as a youngster way back in 2001/02.He was a midfielder then but had a cracking shot.Well done to him for making such a success of his career !

He'll be lucky to get a place on the bench in the Liverpool Champions League set-up.
