It's a Belgian restaurant, not French, but is frequented by a lot of expats living in Hua Hin. Philippe is from Antwerp, Belgium , speaks Flemisch, French and English and his wife is Thai, very friendly people.
Good atmosphere, few drinks at bar while you choose your food from the menu.
Prices are average , beer is 70 bath, he also has a weekly fixed menu, 3 dishes for 160 bath. A la carte is also possible. Closing day Monday. Big parking area in front of the restaurant.
Before he had Belgian beers but that's out of stock now and they became too expensive.
He also has a special wine list for those who are interested.

I have passed the place many times...Looks like Tunafish has promoted the place. I'm going to try it tomorrow

Myself and friends have had many meals at Phillipes and the food has always been good, he and his wife are lovely people and I think that someone just had a bad head the night they went there.

I used to go to this place when he had special evenings with special buffet. I liked his couscous evenings, but stopped going because it was not real couscous, he gave a lot of chicken and only a little lamb and beef. But beef merguez was available.
Chicken has no place in a couscous.
I must adwise Thai food in this restaurant.

Been a few times and while IMO it has quite a nice set up and for a change in Thailand decent bathroom facilities it is not somewhere i would recommend for a few cold ones and somewhere to chill, it is more of a restaurant trying to become a bespoke specialist place and for that I give the place credit. From my memory the owner is Belgium not French and so it the restaurant. Smoking is a problem there, the roof seems to keep the smoke in which is surprising as it is open on three sides.
Like I said it is somewhere a little different, well worth a try and each to their own. Rating 6/10
As for Family restaurant which I used to frequent the place has lost its rustic charm now compared to many other places in the vicinity it gets no more than 3/10 and a 0 for bathroom facilities.

We eat there regularly and are always impressed with the food they serve us, proof is that the restaurant is always full, people are turned away on special menu nights, (spare ribs, cote a l'os bearnaise sause, bouillabaisse, choucroute and sausages, etc) if they didn't make a reservation!
Imo one of the best at the moment and always a good atmosphere, a place we can recommend to everyone who loves good food and a proper drink.
I completely concur with those damn Boonsies people. Just this last night I had a pork tenderloin in there and it was glorious. I also smoked a few cigarettes...!!! Just saying!
