Yes, I was at the beach yesterday and everyone in sight was either eating a meal, sat on a lounger, riding a horse or being towed on an inflatable!

Prachuab Khirikhan governor Veera Sriwatanatrakul has assigned all district chiefs to survey which location has been occupied by illegal vendors and officials will negotiate with those vendors to leave.

If they do not respond to orders, their properties will be removed by officials as beaches are public areas. Meanwhile, it is expected that the mission will be completed by this August.

Thank god, chuck them all of the beach unless they have a proper license, reduce the number of deck chairs and umbrellas, it is just about impossible to have a relaxing day at the beach without every 2 minutes having some cheap toy or fried food shoved in my face.

They should remove all the underwater rocks near the Hilton that are cutting the feet of adult and children alike.

That's all of the beaches in Thailand should be.

Removing under water rocks is a rediculos comment changing natural surroundings maybe what's needed are warning signs in multiple languages .
Beach vendors are fine for me they are only scratching a living if you don't want something a gentle "Mai khup" is enough.
What I would like to see is a break water being constructed to have calm bathing and swimming area as it does really blow up high season.

Why? What's difficult about it, unless that small rock you cut your feet on under water is attached to a volcano?

The dangers are mentioned on tourist web sites... http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/As ... G-C-1.html

Sharp rocks in the ocean off Hua Hin Beach
by iNorv9 Written Dec 26, 2005

'Hua Hin has numerous rocks that dot the beach. While they provide an appealing aesthetic contrast with the white sand, they're also a dangerous nuisance when swimming. I was able to escape unscathed, however I saw several people leave the water bleeding with minor cuts.

So be careful of the rocks you grab a hold of, and it might be a good idea to wear sandals in the water.'

Natural rock formations should not be destroyed it's for us to respect the environment we are in.

There are kilometres of beach that doesn't have sharp rocks but that outcrop near the Hilton is a substantial chunk of rock which I imagine would take some moving, even if you wanted to. Actually I think what people get cuts from are the sharp remains of barnacle shells attached to the rock.

Definitely the barnacles. If you walk by those rocks at low tide they look positively deadly. If you got swept into them you could end up with a serious injury. They're like razor blades.

Kendo.
I'm moved by your compassion for Gaia. How much of the natural environment did you have to destroy to build your home or drive your car?

Never mind. I don't use the beach because of the natural rock formations but others, less aware, will continue to bleed, thereby contaminating the sea. Infections, plasters, bandages and ambulances will consume lots of carbon...

All of this is talk in vain, we all know that no matter how many comments are posted by Farangs no Thai authority will take any notice. This is Thailand and we have to accept they way Thais do things, from driving, riding motorbikes, drinking, littering and everything else so why bother.

Personally we do not go to HH beach anymore it is an eyesore compared to other locations. Take a look at the fisherman's jetty and the state of disrepair, Thai's don't even notice it and could not care less.

If they really wanted to reorganise the beach, those horse licences should be torn up. Was at the beach yesterday and saw two different horses poo directly into the water. Its disgusting and pollutes the water. No wonder so few people swimming in the sea

I agree Kendo...He is so full of bullcrap that if he was given an enema he could sleep in a matchbox.

No apologies for stealing a line from the book "I Am Pilgrim" reviewed earlier in another thread. Thought it rather apt when I read it

A bit petty to drag that into this topic just because you haven't a sense of humour. Lighten up.
