LOL! As I said before, the referees are doing just fine on their own.

Bit worried now as Chelsea always do pretty well playing twice a week, now we're down to one a week and it a week before we played last night! :)

Ibrahimovic was just trying to shift the blame. What is it now, 4 sendings off in CL games! He did nothing on the park, apart from get sent off and PSG were better without him, sadly.

Obviously a referees' conspiracy!

I wonder if there has ever been a less popular - or perhaps I should say "more hated" - club than the current Chelsea bunch? Is it just envy or are they really a load of spoilt tossers led by the numero uno Tosserinho? Even United and Fergie in their heyday didn't attract this level of genuine dislike and disapproval.

I don't think they are any better or worse than any other team, there's just more hype these day. All media outlets are after the most hits, so are quite happy to light the flame.

There's no doubt they have been at the wrong end of some terrible refereeing in the PL, more so than most. Even Gary Lineker tweeted a month or so back that even he was now beginning to believe there is a campaign against Chelsea. Martin Atkinsons performance in the game against Burnley was widely derided as verging on the incompetent, to Chelsea's cost. On saying that, I also recognise that some players have let themselves and the club down with their behaviour. I'm personally sick of Costa. I thought his behaviour the other night was shocking in the way he always wants to starts rucks. He should stick to playing footie, which he is very good at.

The bottom line is that Chelsea have a very high profile, have been very successful, have a 'love him or hate him' manager with a big mouth and Abramovich (who incidentally, has now cut the purse strings) and will therefore attract more hostility than most, even if we fielded 11 angels.

It will be someone else's turn in a few weeks. A couple of papers tried to stoke up a row about Rooney's behaviour in the game against Arsenal the other day, but failed.

Missed this. Ah, but it wasn't a premiership referee! :)

Maureen used to be the darling of the media, always ready with a quote they would think ever so funny and then share with their readers. He has gone too far trying to dictate to referees before a game as he did with PSG. I watched the second half and was impressed with Chelsea`s football , then it all fell apart and the darker side came out. I havn`t watched them a lot this season but from what I read their football is boring, defensive and full of gamesmanship. Another year when they don`t play attractive football or win the CL could result in the sack for Maureen just as it did before.
Do I hate Chelsea? Not particularly but their fans are an arrogant bunch (present company excepted of course) who think football was invented in 2005.

Actually about 10 years before that, when we started being successful again - lol!

I think the fact we came back from the dead, literally, to challenge and then break the United / Arsenal domination was a good thing and it's getting more and more diverse.

So which one, being successful for a decade plus or coming back from the dead (with a yatch load of cash to fund the ending of domination)?

The club had a good 10 years before Abramovich took over the club, including completing the rebuilding of the stadium. It was the ambitious rebuilding of the ground in the early 70's that nearly killed the club. Only the East Stand was built and still remains from that project, although it has been completely refurbished. I know that, as I used to have access in the old days, even having a beer in the players bar there and before I came to Thailand I took myself on a tour of the Bridge for old times sake.

Bates bought the club for £1 and then had a mighty battle with the developers, Marler Estates, that had bought most of the shares after Brian Mears and his board sold out. It was his Grandfather who founded the club, so shame on the man. The history is pretty well documented after that, QPR's involvement, Richard Attenborough, a lifelong fan, refusing to sell his shares, the Chelsea Pitch Owners (I'm one), that even stopped Abramovich's plan to move from the Bridge. nearly being relegated to the old 3rd division (and yes, I really was at Bolton where we needed a win to stay up, thank you Clive Walker). Then the tide turned, John Neal initially, then Hoddles management setting the club on the right track. Marler Estates became bankrupt, Matthew Harding stepped in and splashed his cash (before being tragically killed in a helicopter crash on the way back from a game), then we had a pretty successful 10 years, winning in Europe, the FA cup, twice I believe off the top of my head, always near the top of the premiership, runners up one year and then the Russian stepped in.

He was looking to buy Spurs, but it was a no-brainer once he checked Chelsea out! :D

As expected, the last of the British contingents were dumped out of the CL last night - whilst the score line sounds reasonably respectable (1-0), Barca were by far the better team and only the woodwork and Hart stopped it being a landslide. Oh well, next year maybe?

I wonder if 2 FA Cups, a Europa League title and finishing 'near' the top of the league would be classed as success these days?

I do get the feeling that you are crediting the influx of cash as to the reason why Chelsea are expected to win major silver wear every year.

This is something that in my experience of talking to Chelsea fans is not always the case so I applaud your realism.

Anyway, you guys have been by far the best this season and deserve the league title.

Well, footballs changed as well in that time, with the Champions League being the top earning tournament (I think) plus the kudos and reputation of doing well there and in the premiership, that gets around the globe and all that entails. Chelsea's new shirt sponsors for next season are a Japanese company, with major outlets in the states, but hardly known in the UK, £40m pa to hit three markets at once.

That's the reality of the game these days. Success almost ensures further success because of the financial amounts involved.
