 x 3 for Don :D

Shop found and computer away from home and repaired in less than 30 hours. :D
This is some of that which still make Thailand unique. Back home I would most likely have been told to drop the laptop on the garbage dump and buy a new one.

Happy New year

From Soi 56 go across the traffic lights, past Dinosaur Market, and there's a SMALL turning about 100 yards on the left with a small sign high on the lampost.
Does anyone have a phone number for Mr. Don or know if he's open or closed at this time?

Hi, :thumb:

Just bumping this thread ....... does anyone know if Mr Don is still working?

I went round yesterday, however his gate was closed with no sign of activity. There was still a "computer repair" banner outside and a couple of motorbikes inside the gate.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

I went about 3/4 weeks ago, he wasn't sat outside but the door was open, it was about 5/6 p m, but he did come out, I think there is a door bell outside the gate that I rang ????

Hi :thumb:

Thanks Pagey for your response. I went back the other day and managed to get him.

Picked up my repaired laptop yesterday ...... :D

He still uses telephone number 0871 609977 and there is a "doorbell" outside, kinda like a ship's bell.

I usually repair my PC, laptop etc. myself, but in the absence of a USB drive I was willing to empty and format to create a temporary boot drive (I forget where I stored my created boot CD) I went to Mr. Don with my PC which finally was only booting to the BIOS screen and unusable.

I never noticed the bell outaide, I just stand and call out! He goes out occasionally to buy a few things and leaves everything unlocked so maybe come back later if no response, even if the two bikes are outside.

Within an hour or so he had diagnosed my failed SSD (I knew it was a hardware problem of some sort, developing over a few months). I'm sad that he can't buy the parts to build a new hi spec PC to my recipe these days due to sourcing issues, but when the need arises I may buy everything and take to him to build, I don't have the patience (or the eyesight) these days. :)
