Looking forward to Hamilton vs Verstappen vs Leclerc - Vettel is done and dusted, Bottas not really up there despite the car IMHO. Could well be the best F1 season for a fair few years.. Betting on Hamilton equaling Michael Schumacher's record, Mercedes quitting F1 and then Hamilton moving to Ferrari and taking the title again after a massive battle with Verstappen..... NOTE: THIS IS A "GYPSY PETE (H) PREDICTION!! :thumb:  :D

Max Verstappen Confident He Can Get Better of Hamilton … iI The Car is Right

Max Verstappen has insisted he can beat Lewis Hamilton in a straight fight for the Formula One world championship this season. The Red Bull driver was confident that, should his team provide a car able to match Mercedes, he is in no fear of taking the fight to the world champion.
Hamilton has six titles already and is attempting to match Michael Schumacher’s record of seven this season but, when Verstappen was asked whether he felt he could end the 35-year-old’s reign, his reply was immediate. “Yes,” he said unequivocally. He was respectful of Hamilton’s achievements but refused to be intimidated.
“Lewis is very good, he is absolutely one of the best but he is not God,” he said. “Maybe God is with him,” he added with a smile. Hamilton has won five of the last six championships but the Dutch driver was clearly confident in his own abilities. He maintained that, with testing for the new season set to begin in Barcelona in two weeks, he was intent on ensuring he was as sharp as possible for the season opener in Melbourne on 15 March.
“I feel good and I feel ready for it,” he said. “That is most important. I don’t really think about what my advantages over Lewis might be. I just focus on myself. I trust in myself.”

Also appears Mercedes will be there in the 2021 season and beyond, and Lewis Hamilton staying with them for the time being at least. The situation could well change if Ferrari/Red Bull break Mercedes' dominance of the sport.....

Quoted in some publications, Hamilton could command up to £60 Million a season with an extended contract

Vietnam Grand Prix set to go ahead despite coronavirus concerns, says Ross Brawn.

The Vietnam Grand Prix is expected to go ahead on 5 April despite concerns over the coronavirus, says Formula 1's managing director Ross Brawn.

Vietnam's inaugural race is being held in Hanoi, 100 miles from the border with China, the centre of the outbreak.

The Chinese GP, which was scheduled for 19 April, was postponed on Wednesday.

"For Vietnam, all the feedback we are getting is rather like the UK. There have been some cases but not a level that would concern us," said Brawn.

Speaking to Reuters at an event in Canada on Wednesday, Brawn added: "The advice we are getting is that it can go ahead there."

On Thursday, Vietnam announced that it had quarantined 10,000 people in the commune of Son Loi, 30 miles north-west of Hanoi, because of fears over the spread of the disease.

A Health Ministry statement said: "As of February 13, 2020, we will urgently implement the task of isolation and quarantine of the epidemic area in Son Loi commune. The timeline... is for 20 days."

A Formula 1 spokesman said that Brawn was not aware of the new developments in Vietnam when he spoke but added that "we can only confirm that Vietnam is on the schedule".

There are 15 confirmed cases of what has been officially called the COVID-19 virus in Vietnam, five of them in Son Loi.

On Thursday, the death toll in China rose above 1,350 - with almost 60,000 infections in total.

In the FIA's statement announcing the postponement of the Chinese Grand Prix, motorsport's governing body said: "The global situation regarding this virus will continue to be monitored by the FIA with regard to other motorsport events."

Brawn added that F1 were continuing efforts to try to find a space in the calendar for the Chinese Grand Prix later in the year, assuming the virus outbreak situation improves, but he admitted it would be "very tough".

My intuition tells me this may indeed be your year. :thumb: I personally am having difficulty focusing on sports at the moment. Probably because San Francisco lost the Super Bowl, and my Super Rugby teams are performing all backwards at the moment. :(

I chased Vital Spark and Parahandy, and a few others with invitations as well. Let's see if they show up this year.
