The below was a recent 'No Masks Protest' in the UK. (picture credit: The Daily Mail. ). The guy in the front rocking the Osama bin Laden look, is actually a neighbour of mine. I've also seen a fair bit of squabbling on the issue on british fb groups and the like.I can't say I've noticed anything "kicking off" here. I know it's an issue in parts of the US,

Re: (Don't) Wear a Mask Debate
In the UK I am exempt from wearing a mask due to COPD (Emphasyma). However I wear a full face plastic mask when going into buildings or crowded areas. This can be cleaned with antiseptic wipes. I go out very often to much hassle getting ready, so I so far have had no problems.
Woke up this morning breathing that's a good start to the day.

Re: (Don't) Wear a Mask Debate
At the moment, I'm on a London bus driving through East Ham (ok, you can't call East Ham 'England' anymore but...) and I'd say it's about 70/30 in favour of NOT wearing a mask. Now, 90% of people have a mask, but the large majority have chosen to pull them down under their chin once on the bus. Or hanging off one ear.
Ho hum, what can you do? Don't bother me much really but as studies have shown UK's BAME community to be dropping like flies with covid, I'd have thought they'd make more of an effort.

Re: (Don't) Wear a Mask Debate
Masks in the covid setting serve 2 purposes, they reduce the distance of particle travel and give a feeling of security to the wearers, whether that is they may not become infected or spread infection.
Also the longer you wear a mask surgical or cloth the less effective it becomes.
So removing it when not required is probably best .
In the UK I wear the mask when it is required by law.
Regards

I've had to wear a mask at work for nine hours a day since the end of March and it's really not that hard. I work at an international airport and you can refuse to wear one if you want but you won't get through security and you'll then loose your job along with the rest of the aviation industry.

Yet another new study just published (including laboratory evidence on animals, using the SARS-CoV-2 virus) giving evidence of the beneficial effects of masks.

Researchers have long known that masks can prevent people from spreading airway germs to others — findings that have driven much of the conversation around these crucial accessories during the coronavirus pandemic.
But now, as cases continue to rise across the country, experts are pointing to an array of evidence suggesting that masks also protect the people wearing them, lessening the severity of symptoms, or in some instances, staving off infection entirely.
Re: (Don't) Wear a Mask Debate
I'm just back from Market Village. Yes, the enforcers will not let anybody past who isn't wearing a mask. Amazing how you get past the enforcer, and I'd estimate 50% were not wearing masks inside the Mall. Worst offenders are the smaller establishments. As an example, I walk from Kasikorn Bank today, past all of the phone vendors - only 2 were wearing masks. Even more disgusting IMHO are the number of food vendors flouting the regulations.
I always record the fact on my Thai Chana feedback, but something I haven't said for a few weeks - it isn't fit for purpose. Nobody cares.

Exactly, the company that runs the airport has their own rules and you either abide by them or you don't get in.

That will never happen here for fear of throwing out the wrong hi-so.

It really P's me off. A team of Hitlers on the entrances to make sure you're wearing your mask, but once inside, probably 10% of employees comply. They should lead by example.
