So basically get paid off when sacked and get a bonus when hired..... Christ, I wish I could BS myself through Wendyball as several others do. Seems I could quit all after a couple of summer holidays.....

I think that what would happen if he moves to Spurs, then Spurs have to compensate PSG, Poch doesn’t get anything out of that deal, just whatever he can screw out of Spurs in his new contract (apparently his net contract at PSG was over £6m a year)

So Ancelotti has quit Everton to join Real Madrid then. That leaves only one place left for Poch to go.

Well after all the Poch talk, it's looking increasingly more likely that Spurs are going to end up with Conte. If reports are to be believed, Spurs and Conte have reached advanced stages of negotiations.

Will it make a difference to what happens next? Finish 5-7 and get fired and move on to the next manager. It's about as bad as Chelsea's owner.

I think spurs would have to go through another 10 managers or so to catch up with what Chelsea have gone through in the last decade. Least they're winning stuff though.

I'd imagine Conte would only come providing he's guaranteed big funds for a rebuild. And not just from a Harry Kane sale. Do Spurs have the funds for that? Dunno. Anywho, whatever happens, it surely can't be as bad as the last two seasons (famous last words :D).

About the only area that Spurs have some strength is in their forward line, but if Kane and Son end up leaving, that leaves an almost complete rebuild required. Deep pockets and patience would be required to achieve that, and judging by past events that doesn’t look likely.

It looks like remaining in the wilderness for a few more years I’m afraid.

^^^

Yeah, just seen that. Well that option came and went pretty quickly. Wonder who's next on the list to become spurs' manager but not actually become spurs' manager. :D

It has all the makings of a desperate appointment being made that is doomed to failure and they’ll be doing the same again before the season is out.

Here's my prediction:
1. Unable to find a suitable, experienced manager of the right pedigree, Levy will confirm Ryan Mason in the job on a 1-year contract.
2. Spurs will have a good season, finishing comfortably in the top 4, Mason will be given a 5-year contract.
3. 2022-25 Spurs will be challenging for the Premiership title and in Europe, Arsenal will be relegated to the Championship.
4. 2026-36 On an extended contract Mason will go on to become one of the most sought after managers in Europe, but will stay with Spurs for 10 more years, during which we will win 3 Premiership titles, 2 European Championships and 2 FA Cups. Arsenal will be relegated to Division 1.
5. 2036 onwards - I'm not sure, the future becomes strangely obscured by that point...
This is the way

That beeb article is rubbish and it was even dumber of the spuds to enter into negotiations with Conte.

It's blindingly obvious that top managers will want to buy top players, but that's not always needed. Look when Conte took over at Chelsea. He was clearly going to change the way we played. He took a bit part loan player who he had never heard of and first saw when pre-season training started. and made him a star wing-back - step forward Victor Moses. He even took him to Inter, but he didn't make it there.

Conte won at Chelsea with better players than the spuds have now in a style Spuds fans wouldn't like. But they need to wake up and smell the roses if they want to start winning. And Conte makes Mourinho look like a pussy. If you think Mourinho was bad at handling players, Conte made him seem like an angel.

Conte left Inter because they are broke and need to cut back something like 20% on costs throughout the club. That effectively meant no new big signings to take the club to the next level. What could he do with the current bunch at Spurs, especially if Kane leaves? Are the youngsters at the level James, Hudson-Odoi, Gilmour, Abraham and Mount are at? Or even Conor Gallagher who spent last season at WBA and was a regular all season and is contracted to Chelsea until 2025 and seems a ready made replacement for Jorghino, who will be 30 in December.

I thought this comment in The Times, about the situation with the spuds, pretty much on the ball. Much more than Levy is, in any case.

Sack a foreign coach, pay them a fortune in compensation and then look for another foreign coach.
Sack that foreign coach, pay them an even bigger fortune in compensation, and then try and get back the foreign coach you sacked previously at great expense...

Failing that try and get a new foreign coach at great expense, hire a sporting director they are familiar with working with, even though that foreign coach eventually decides its not for him..

Einstein said the very definition of insanity was doing the same thing but expecting different results. Spurs and Daniel Levy definitely seem to be guilty of this.

Spurs should accept they’re not going to win the league any time soon and that Kane is going, and look for a longer term strategy with a coach who would stick around for a while, commit to the club and help bring younger players through. Eddie Howe, Graham Potter and Gareth Southgate would all be good candidates.

Kane = Best goal scorer of the season. Best playmaker of the season. All the while playing in a weaker team than some of those in the top 6.

Premier League player of the season 2020-2021...?

Ruben Dias.
