Football (not Premier League)
Re: Football (not Premier League)
Absolute farce in National League North. Buxton leading second placed Scunthorpe with few minutes remaining...

HaHa, he must be trying to get a job refereeing in the Thai League.
Actually, even Thailand have it better worked out than that. If a match is abandoned for whatever reason, the teams meat again, and the game is resumed at the point the match was abandoned. I've been to Ratchaburi twice now for 30 minute 'resumption' matches. Exact same players. If a player is e.g. injured for the resumption, he has to be replaced by one of the listed subs.

Shortlist for the best manager is in. No space for Arteta which is very sad.

Over in Saudi, these are the kind of games the likes of Jordan Henderson is playing in on £500k+ a week. Steven Gerrard managing. A grand total of 698 (edit: 696, sorry ) people in attendance yesterday.

Re: Football (not Premier League)
Although I don’t agree with it, players like Henderson can earn as much in 1-2 years playing out their last days, than they did in the rest of their careers, such is the world in which we live!!
Re: Football (not Premier League)
We all went to work for the money, so you can't disagree with his financial thinking. However, playing Sunday League football week in/week out, and thinking he can still turn out for his national team 12 months later is outrageous. His interview before the last England game was sad to listen to.

I didn’t see the interview so no idea what was said, but (IMO) you have to blame Southgate for selecting him much more than Henderson for accepting the cap!!Big Boy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2023 7:41 am We all went to work for the money, so you can't disagree with his financial thinking. Re: Football (not Premier League)
No, I don't blame Southgate so soon after his departure.
The sad thing was his own disillusionment that his playing standard standard will not drop whilst playing Sunday League football. His belief is if he maintains his fitness, his selection for the Euros will be assured. If he doesn't use it, he'll surely lose it.

Re: Football (not Premier League)
As I said, I didn’t see the interview so don’t know what was said, but surely Southgate has to share responsibility for selecting him. Maybe now his performance won’t have dropped much since leaving Liverpool, but clearly playing second class football will in time affect his sharpness - hence why I believe that Southgate has to recognise this when selecting his team!!

Re: Football (not Premier League)
Nothing to do with Southgate. Henderson is disillusioned and is assuming he will be picked because he deserves it. It will only be Southgate's fault if he actually meets Henderson's expectations.

Re: Football (not Premier League)
Well he picked him last week so doesn’t that make him guilty? Anyway no point in continuing this meaningless conversation - what will be will be!!

Re: Football (not Premier League)
No, I agree, if you haven't heard the interview, it is a strange discussion.
Basically, Henderson (nothing to do with Southgate) feels that so long as he maintains his fitness levels, he will be automatically be picked for England at next year's Euros. He doesn't comprehend that nobody else will be selected from a Sunday League side.
Actually, that is a lie, by the end of the conversation, I think the penny may have dropped because he started becoming very cagey with his answers.
