It is pathetic that people should get so worked up over just a game of football.

I opened the thread on the off chance that there was such an option just like there is on others American Idol for example. Some people have other interests and should be able to voice their opinion in polls.

Krakas Dad, if your not a Football fan you may find it difficult to understand why people are so passionate about the game.

Its not Pathetic, the highs and lows of Football are unbelievable to Fans of the game.

I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand up just watching the replays this week of the last LFC v AC match.

Hope im as happy after tonights game.

Half Time, Liverpool losing 1 - 0 to a goal typical of the cheating Italians. They scored their goal by deflecting the ball off of the Centre Forward's right arm.

Still, here's to a great 2nd half - footballing skill has to prevail over cheating.

Full Time, Liverpool 1 - AC Milan 2.

No arguments with the second Italian goal. As the Liverpool goal was offside, it was a fair result - well done  AC Milan

Yeah, but it was a p**s poor game between two p**s poor teams.

The system needs changing to reflect who is europes best - these weren't it.

Liverpool were poor and Rafael "the tinkerman" Benitez pulled some classic strokes tonight. Gerrard up front? Well, who knows? Pennant, yeah good championship material. Kewell, so he was still with the scousers, didn't he do well. It only changed when they put Crouch on, oh, and there was Zenden, Chelsea reject who found his level at Middlesborough.

Dream on Liverpool, and I hope the manager apologises to the fans for his performance.

Premiership title next season - not a hope.

Caller,

I have to agree with you. The Champions League may be a money spinner these days, but there are too many non-champions in it to allow Europe's best to really compete. The best teams are so busy trying to win so many trophies, but having to play so many games to get there.

Teams like Liverpool put in their mediocre Premiership performances (just enough to qualify for the tournament), deliberately take an early exit from the League and FA Cups and then put in their best performances in the Champions League.

Yes, they got to the final, but how many of their fans were cheated along the way with some of their poor performances in other competitions?

Leave the Champions League to just the Champions!

Caller, I hope you´re not calling it the sour grapes. Chelsea didn´t deserve to be near the final. They are not playing entertaining football. I can say this because neither did Arsenal deserve to be there, because although they entertain, they can´t score. I thought Milan deserved to win, because they were consistent throughout the season.

liverpool & milan finished way off the pace in their title races so the claim for the winner to be the champions of or best team in europe are a little misguided.
the competition should be renamed the european cup again.
as for the game tonight i certainly wouldnt say the best team won but that is often the case in cup competitions.
mr benitez got his tactics wrong, bad formation & it didnt work well enough. was also a bit slow to change things.

Milan deserved it,Carragher blames himself for conceding the free kick that led to the unfortunate first goal.
Gerrard played further up field as Liverpool lack quality in that department but I am sure they will recruit in the summer to bolster the squad and challenge for English honours.A lot of Liverpool fans have been saying that Benitez is only interested in winning the CL this season and bemoan the fact that they are so far behind the EPL champions for the last 3 seasons, a massive 21 points behind Man Utd this year. They will buy big in the summer and am sure will challenge for the Premiership title as to win the EPL next year will be more lucrative than winning the CL.
I agree wholeheartedly with the comment that it should be called The European Cup.
Glory! Glory! Man Utd.

BG - not sour grapes!

The other posters and UK press this morning have reflected my views. It was frustrating to see the teams limitations against an average Milan side. They should have pushed on and won.

Think about it, who would have caused more problems on the right last night - Pennant or an out of sorts Wright-Phillips? 'Nuff said?

Sure Liverpool beat Chelsea, they seemed to have worked out how to do that. Its not pretty but it works.

But what was evident last night was the lack of quality needed to win at the highest level. In hindsight, maybe that is known by Benitez and dicated his tactics?

But I always believe in the simple adage - play your best players in their best positions and I don't think he did that last night.

I thought it was Alonso that committed the foul that led to the first goal? Could be wrong, they all look the same in a red shirt.
