I lived in the town, Guerneville, about 20min. away 3 yrs. ago before moving to LOS. Had some neighbors that cooked for the event and didn't have much to say about it but that it paid well. Don't think they actually had to have security clearance to work there. In fact the guy I know is a butcher at Safeway!
Don't know for sure, but like many things in that area, there is a certain fantasy land to it all. The owl thing sounds to me very similar to the giant statue of Paul Bunyan in Rivers End campground on the Russian River. It's an old resort town where people have been coming since the days of Benny Goodman, Jimmy Dorsey etc.
Every year at this time there are protests about the event, but last I heard the protesters numbers are dwindling. Maybe people are getting tired of trying to fight the "good ol boys" network.

Democrats as well as Republicans attend Bohemian Grove although its mainly Republicans. It's the fake 2 party system that allows the elite to control the world. Good 'normal' highly qualified Independent candidates such as Ron Paul (who would abolish the privately owned Federal Reserve) are never allowed the opportunity to run for president. They are never allowed enough TV time to debate issues and are dismissed as 'no hopers' from day one by the elite controlled media. (The elite who own the Federal Reserve). Ron Paul, ran as and is a Republican.
He lost the republican nomination so I thought he was carrying on running as an Independent. I stand corrected if he isn't. He certainly doesn't talk like a typical republican. In fact he doesn't talk like a typical politician. He actually talks about relevant problems and put forward ideas for what seem like sensible solutions. Definitely Bush was there just from Thursday 17th until the weekend, he was back at his ranch in Crawford on the Saturday.
I’m pretty sure neither Obama nor McCain had a chance to attend; they’ve been too busy staying in the spotlight on the campaign trail.
Obama has been followed everywhere by a pool of journalists for a few weeks now and they report everything down to what his kids are eating!
