dont know about containers but do know that China has imposed a virtual lockdown on smaller "courier" deliveries (such as sample purchases). They have also imposed harsh restrictions on travelling businessmen so the "Christmas" trade fairs in China have been virtually empty..... all in the name of Olympics anti-terrorism. Maybe after the games it will loosen up again.

My mum and dad back in the UK have taken their house off the market now....they decided to sit it out for a year or so.

Here doesnt seem to be hit pricewise yet. That said a couple of mates houses are still on the market after 6 months.....I also noted on my way out to the dark side of the moon....sorry Immigration HH.....that most of the building projects down there seem to have stopped...that or all the builders were on a day off. Shame they dont use the time to repair the road they've buggered up.

Hi gents, firstly Mr Plum i can not comment on bulk brake trade, i work only in containers, just over 35 years ago containerization started and that was a real revolution in shipping, going from thousands of men handling small amounts of cargo and ships being on the dockside for weeks, to very few men handling large amounts of cargo and ships being on the dockside 24 hours.

Sandman all the big builders are shuting down sites after laying foundations, some of the big builders like Wimpey are murging with Bovis, another massive development near me at Limington has been put on hold, 300 waterfront homes from Redrow one of the market leaders.

I will leave my house on the market because i paid £350 plus v.a.t for the home information pack, i am still not sure what to do, i am in the running for promotion to full manager status, and maybe get a transfer to Leam Chabang in the next few years, or be a real freespirt and come to HH and try making a business and living the dream now, or being very sensible and work to 55 or 60 and being very well off, the wife wants to stay here but i am in limbo land.

All markets blip in a recession but eventually recover

A depression is maybe not the same. I've never been through one

Let's hope today s situation is a mild recession

All points to a bit more than a mild recession world-wide. Will it pass Thailand by?
