I loved living in the country, but had to have a large city experience periodically.
When I say large city I mean, good ethnic restaurants, plays, concerts, a good library and market.
I'd rather live in the countryside, and make that drive to the city.
In Maine it was a bit of a problem if I needed say a stick of butter, or a toggle bolt for instance, and I found myself doing more driving than I wanted. It caused me to spend more time on planning, and the overall lifestyle was worth it in my opinion.
