Vegetarian food
I just love these Thai/Vegetarian debates! Dawn is spot on there with the fish sauce sploshed in everything. But it also seems to me there are many other misunderstandings in LOS about what is truly vegetarian friendly, and I'm just thankful I don't have that problem.
Yes, there is loads of unprocessed and fresh fruit etc available, and tofu if needed, but I wouldn't want to guarantee that a vegetarian meal is cooked in fresh oil in a separate wok from the meat dishes, or that meat stock cubes aren't added to tofu meals etc. After all - a chicken cube looks nothing like a chicken does it?
Always reminds me of the veggie who ordered vegetable soup and found a piece of beef in it. Summons the waitress and points out that she doesn't eat meat cos she is vegetarian. Waitress says 'Oh - is OK - cow eat grass'.
Enjoy!

I also like vegetarian food, but 2 problems,
the sauce they mix with it, i.e mushroom soy sauce etc has between 5-10% MSG and 15 % sugar,
Then they add 1 large tablespoon MSG on top.
Add 1 large spoon of sugar and salt.
so any goodness from the veg is well covered up with chemicals,
same as the somtam stalls , large dose of fish sauce, MSG, chemical lime juice, thats why so many Thai are addicted to many foods, not because of taste but by the amount of MSG added.
just go to TESCO etc see how many bags of this stuff the average family put in the basket, might as well let the kids smoke and drink from the day they are born.

Good point Heretostay - and aren't there loads of additives in Mammas noodles as well? There was a warning one time because Thais - in particular youngsters I think - tend to eat them straight from the pack rather than add the required water.
Didn't realise the lime juice can be 'fake' as well though. Seems a bit daft when limes there are so cheap!

Re: Vegetarian food?
Any improvement on finding good vegetarian food. Indian restaurant is one option. Any more?

Re: Vegetarian food?
Not that I am a great advertiser for veggie stuff (aka rabbit food) but there is a small Chinese veggie rest in Pranburi.
Turn left at MAIN set of lights (going Sth from HH) ie. next set of lights past Tesco. Rest. is on right about 200 meters down between the Suppermarket (their spelling) and the small Tesco and nearly opposite the LPG refill shop (on left). There is a good Kao man Gai shop double front with blue awning about 20 meters just before it and opposite a nice Moo daeng restaurant on corner of small Soi (the first on left after the big LHT at main set of lights.
Thank Goodness Linda didn't make it to HH ha, ha!!!!
