Incidently last week on a Thai News programme An exam room for police recruits was raided almost all sitting the exam were wearing an electronic gizmo which gave them the answers apparently.
how it worked i dont know but it says a lot about police honesty if they are cheating to get in.

the cost for said gizmo plus answers 350,000 bt    have a smidgin of a guess how they get that back on a police salary

I read the posts that tell Sargeant that he should have presented an envelope to the police straight away in order to get results.

How much should have been in that envelope?

Ballpark kinda number of course.

Depends on the size of the envelope.

Sarge I doubt that the BIB will ever find the guy unless they are paid to do so.

Sad but so true.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

How much in the envelop? Hard to say.

I know of a guy here in Phuket who had his electronic gate damaged by a disgruntled Thai lady. After a dispute she drove her car straight into it on purpose. The police came and the matter was discussed. All evidence was there including bits and pieces of the car. There were eye witnesses, they knew who she was and where to find her.

The police straightforward asked for 5,000 Baht to handle the case. He said he would pay them 5,000 out of the compensation that he wanted to receive from her. Police refused. 5,000 upfront or nothing would happen and that is exactly what (not) happened.

Then he contacted a lawyer friend. The lawyer filed an official complaint or whatever lawyer stuff was necessary. This only resulted in an official notification that they were not able to trace her. Although she still lived in the same house and was there every day. You never win.
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.

If the identikit is like what I had to do in Bangkok, look at my Bangkok Beating thread, then you'e looking in a book at facial features while a sketch artist uses photoshop to create a picture of the suspect. In our case we thought it poorly resembled the attacker but on arrest it was actually nearly perfect. This was an integral part of moving the case forward through the system to the court and getting an arrest warrant. It was a lot of work but we did it and got the SoB!

I learned that the police don't just go arrest someone in a case like this, even if they know who and where they are, they can't. They compile all the paperwork, you know how Thais love their paperwork and fancy stamps, then forward a complete package to the court. Then a warrant comes down after the court reviews it and a case number is given. I bet a prosecutor is assigned when it comes in and they decide if they're going to take it on and if they do they issue warrants, subpoenas, etc... whatever the police want. We needed these sketchs copied in triplicate and stamped by each officer on duty to add to the package before it could go.

What is imperative is that you complete the, at times arduous, paperwork process! If you stop at the identikit it all stops there. Once the identikit is done and it's typed up it all goes to court. I just learned all this as per my post today about being attacked and my subsequent dealings with cops. I think you may have quit the game at 1st and goal on the 5 yard line if you'll pardon the American football analogy :p

Do the identikit, you've been to the chief of police for PKK, no matter how stupid you think it is. We thought the sketches were stupid too then we held them up next to his mugshot and it was a 90%+ match.

CJ i have lived in Hua Hin for fifteen years and i have always defended the HH police

NOT ANYMORE

It was six weeks after the accident that the DEPUTY CHIEF INSPECTOR filled in from scratch our accident complaint
A DCI filling it in     where was the original report

For a couple of weeks members of this forum Hardly police and it certainly was not their highest priority reported numerous sightings of the bike and number plate

PUULLEEEASE dont expect me to believe the police were looking

If they could not find a hog motorcycle (hardly a common sight) with number plate whatever makes you think they could find the scum with a identifit drawing

I am sure they knew who he was and sent a ***** at which point it ceased to be a criminal matter as they decided not to bother even after the province chief showed his weight

I don't Sarge, they didn't look for my attacker even *after* I had an arrest warrant for him, I had to lead them to him!

What I'm saying is that they have zero power to help you if you don't finish the paperwork. It goes to a court and a warrant comes back and only then do you find the bastard and have him arrested. It's a frockton of work and it shouldn't be but TiT right? If you had found him on the night of the accident it might be different but this is the way cases are handled. This kind of thing is regarded as the lowest priority by cops, they don't care about personal disputes or minor accidents, so you got to do the work yourself. Sucks but if you bring it to them they will act. It does seem that you got them moving and doing their jobs so it's embarrassing for you to quit now so close to the end.

Just finish their paperwork, it's only another hoop or 2 you have left to jump through to get the case filed. When you report back here that you have an arrest warrant in hand I'm sure the forum will get busy looking for this prick and any police you show that document to will be all over him in my experience.

Where in Isaan?

There is a crazy Kiwi guy who fits your original desc. living in Khon Kaen...he is always keen on a punch up after a few beers.
