I wish I had that rule, I initially had Wigan as a 2-1 win yesterday, then mulled over it and changed it to 1-1. Big mistake.Big Boy wrote:I reckon I'm always done within 2 minutes. I have 1 rule - once I've made my prediction, I never change it.

So true, so true, I should have listened. I had Chelsea/MC at 1-0 and changed it to 3-1 for a variety of logical reasons, none of which were apparently correct.Big Boy wrote:I reckon I'm always done within 2 minutes. I have 1 rule - once I've made my prediction, I never change it.

Question: Is it normal at this time of the season to see apathy among the sides that let's say are out of the top 5 or so? I don't know if there is some kind of a bonus structure to reward higher final standings, in order to keep them motivated? Pete
PS: Above does not include Aston Villa who don't appear to care about anything.

I always take a second look at the games involving those teams in the relegation zone at this time of the season. They're fighting for survival and there can sometimes be a few surprising results.
I'd tend to agree that those in mid-table probably don't have much incentive to to go "all out" except to win and keep the fans happy. I'm not aware of any financial rewards except for maybe getting into Europe/being champions and maybe some game win bonuses?

Ow, I'm probably wrong on this but I thought only Hull and Stoke came up this season? Petelomuamart wrote:Three.

Hull, Stoke and west brom Pete.
There is a financial incentive for the clubs for every position they achieve in the league, but I don't know if this is also passed on to the players in some form of bonus but I would guess it is, if the 'Football Manager' game is as accurate as is said, because that is what happens on there.
In the 2007-2008 season (last season) the prize money for the Champions was £14.44 million, 10th was £7.92 million and 20th was £720,000, so it looks like it was £720,000 per position roughly.

Well all credit to lobbygobbler (choice name!
) who must have been just about the only person to predict the 'Ammers would be held by WBA.
On another matter, I have just learnt, via the other league I am in, that if you put your banker and insurance on the same game and get it wrong, you only lose 50% of the banker.

banker
the normal -30 points becomes a 0 for the insured incorrect prediction & your bonus points are 'frozen' for that week.caller wrote:

the bonus total is not affected for the following week though.
i have used this ploy & thought i would get the zero but still get my 20 pts bonus, . . . . not so unfortunately

I see six distinct possibilities: Everton, West Ham, Man U, Chelsea, Bolton and Arsenal.lomuamart wrote:This forthcoming week (GW 30) looks a bit tricky to find a decent banker.
