Don't know why your scans are taking mere seconds - whenever I've done it on any computer it always takes at least 20 minutes to go through all the files.

You don't need the immunization, don't use it.

I use both Malwarebytes and Spybot.

Just updated to Spybot version 2 and I'm baffled.

Used to kick Spybot off and it first off cleared temporary files and then took 30 minutes to scan my computer. Simple and usually fruitful :D

New version confuses me :banghead: :banghead: . Can some technical minded soul walk me through the opening windows and tell me what to do please?

Download it.
Install it.
Open Spybot Start Center.
Click Update, check status, then update.
Close Update.
Back in Start Center - click System Scan.
Start a scan (should take at least 20 mins).
Click Fix Selected to kill all that it finds (may need a restart if comp is badly infected).
Close.

Simple - no need to do anything else.

Redone and now performing in the proper manner :D

My bad too. Skipped the update and just ran the scan. I partly blame Spybot for not prompting stupid people like me that an update is necessary before running a first scan.

Now scan took almost 17 minutes. Found a long list, most to do with registry. But every single one of the items were minimal risk (green zone).

I checked whether Spybot was using the proxy but box was not ticked.

P.S. Buksida. Full Editor does not seem to work. I get a blank page only.

I have also ''done all that '' and also UPDATED the signatures and closed and gone to Start Centre. but when I click Start a Scan, it says something like Full Scan but besides the Icon changing colour nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong or not doing?

On the main page click System Scan.
A new window opens.
Click Start a scan.
And there you go.

Maybe you are not transferred automatically to the new window?
Look in the icon bar and see if you see an additional Spybot icon there.
Then go to the new window via the extra icon.

This is what mine looks like:

EDIT: It does not look like this. I cannot use the Full Editor when posting. For some reason (let's not blame Spybot yet) I get a blank page. Apparently I can also not attach the screen shot of my Spybot page. Maybe later or buksida might soon jump in.

P.S. Can also not preview posts

Not having any of the problems you both are ... suggest you scan for malware.

scan2.gif
Edit: nothing wrong with the editor either.

Ran Malwarebytes (No malicious items found) and Spybot (a few green ones that were fixed), restarted the computer and Full Editor still gives a blank page. P.S. On another forum that seems to use the same technology I do not encounter any problems with full editing, previews and attachment. Any ideas where to start looking?

Edit: the other thing that does not seem to work today is the drop down menu on the Phuket immigration website where I must choose the guest's nationality. Stays blank too. Does that make any sense in combination with the Full Editor problems?

I can assure you there are no problems with this forum's software, I've just used 'quick reply', 'full editor', 'preview' and 'attachment' without an issue.

Try Chrome or IE to eliminate/reveal the browser as the cause. If you do use Firefox make sure its updated to version 21.

Just checked to be sure but Firefox is the latest 21.0 version.
Tried Chrome: Full Editor unfortunately also blank page. No error message, just nothing.
I refuse to try Internet Explorer. One must have his principles.
Any other ideas?

Try disabling your antivirus software, it maybe blocking certain scripts or actions on websites.

Never had any issues with my anti-virus programs before on any computer. But the latest news is that I uninstalled Spybot and everything works fine again. Sorry to have kept you busy so long. Seems there is an issue with Spybot at least on this desk top computer.
