Here's an interesting one for you Buksi. I'm getting popup ads (in Thai) in a new tab about every ten or 15 minutes while I am navigating this forum. It always happens simultaneously at the click of a forum page. Here is an example and the one I receive most often. I trust this is not a forum sponsor or new way of forum marketing...

http://ad.mozzi.biz/index.php?data=TH_P ... 1572159749

I've run scans with malwarebytes, advanced system care, and spybot and cleaned up anything they found (which were only a few tracking cookies). I may have to download the old adaware if it is still available and see if it will do the trick. I know the popup is associated with this forum access because I have pop-ups blocked for all websites in FireFox except this one as I want the pop-up notifying me of a private message to work and it (the ad tab popup) always happens when I make a page selection within the forum (and the tab appears directly after the forum tab). Is there another way to be notified of a private message by the way, like with an email to my email account?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

The forum doesn't run any popup advertising (only Google Adsense) so its not coming from here.

Do you have any other websites or software open at the same time?

Can you try another browser? (FF maybe infected with an add-on or toolbar doing it).

Yes, you can be notified by email about PMs, there is a setting in your profile.

Thanks Buksi, I only had a couple of other (email) tabs open, but it only happens when I have this forum open and occasionally when I click on a forum page navigation. I get the page I clicked on in the tab I was in and get the ad in a new tab immediately following the hhforum tab. For now I have removed huahinforum from the pop-up exceptions in FireFox and will use email notifications for PMs.

Later I'll try browsing a few days using chrome with huahinforum popups enabled to see if the problem is within my FireFox browser. I've become so used to and dependent on FireFox that I haven't used any other browser in a long time so I'll have to set one up and try to get used to it for the test.

There are definitely no popup campaigns running on the forum (I've never seen one) - so I would try another browser or logging in from another computer to eliminate that as the source.

Weird one

I'm using 3BBB, Firefox under Win 7

I'm downloading using Vuse and Bitlord

Last night the downloads were working but FF failed. No HHF, FB, Gmail or any other site

Phoned around and everyone else OK. BB finally phoned me back to inform me my downloads were inhibiting FF. Knocked out Vuse and Bitlord and FF restored. First time I've encountered this? Is my aging laptop struggling to run all three despite RAM and CPU usage indicators showing minimal usage?

Anyone else experienced this?

Hardware spec of laptop has no relevance to internet speed.

If your downloads are maxed out you will struggle to open web pages ... on any browser.

Thanks

On reflection I was overloading FF. Had both golf and cricket operating through my VPN on live visual coverage and was maximising both downloads

I'm having a problem with my Word program.
I can type and save as as per normal but if I want to make corrections the program tells me it can't do it unless I save to another file.
Earlier today, I got some dialogue box that led to others and half of what I'd written turned into hierogliphics - like small squares etc.
Does anyone know what's wrong? The stuff I'm trying to write and save is important and I need to print out the letters tomorrow. If anyone's got a solution, it'll save me having to sit in an internet cafe for a few hours tomorrow.
Thanks.

Never heard of that behaviour, you could try re-installing it or downloading Open Office: http://www.openoffice.org/download/

Did you start the document from scratch or is it one someone emailed you or you downloaded?
Letters turning into small squares sounds like a missing font (if it's a document someone sent you they may have used a font you don't have).

What version of Word are you using (Help, then about - version will be displayed), and does the document have a .doc or .docx extension?

You're more than welcome to bring them around to me in the morning - if it's Word, I should be able to solve it for you.

If it is possible; you could copy and paste the text to a word document, save it and email to one of us. We could then copy back into Word, convert it to *.pdf and email it back to you.
A short-term solution if this helps. I'll be online for an hour or so more.....

OK. Thanks for the suggestions.
The documents are being done from scratch. I just can't understand why Office won't save it after corrections. Initially, it's fine. The letters are for my wife's visa.
As we've gone through this before and I have copies of the letters from before, it's ingrained in my head. I just need to update stuff.

It's probably because the letters were produced by a newer version of Word (e.g. Office 2010), which your version can't handle. All you need is for the originator to save them as an older version, and you'd be fine. It would take anybody with a newer version of MS Office less than 2 minutes to fix.

Ah. That could be it. I seem to remember that I updated Office when prompted by Avast - before buksida suggested turning updates off in reply to something else. I don't use Word much so this is probably the first time that it's been functioning since then. My operating system is XP.
But it does save the document the first time I type it out. Any corrections have to be saved as XYZ1 or XYZ2 etc. Yesterday it just went really crazy and I lost the best part of an hour's work as I can't read a lot of it now.
I think it's going to be easier for me in an internet cafe. I can remember most of the stuff and I need the internet and printing facilities as well. I hope they've got the aircon on!!
