Record for the year so far today over here in Rayong with a heat index of 46C. Hua Hin is cool at an index of 39C. Let the clouds and/or Songkran buckets open! Pete

A blistering hot day today around 35ºC at my place up in the hills.
Must have been warmer in the town and in the lower areas I guess.

Thunderstorm expected in Thailand

The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning on summer thunderstorm in the North, the Northeast, the Central and the East of Thailand on Saturday.

According to the warning, the ridge of moderate high pressure has extended to Laos and the Northeast of the country. Summer thunderstorms with isolated thundershowers, gust and hail are expected in these regions.

People in these regions should beware of severe weather from Saturday to Monday, it said.

I've really had enough. Hit a heat index of 48C (118.4F) over here today. No rain in sight. Give me a ticket to the New Zealand Alps!!!. News today said the monsoon has started in Phuket. I hope it moves quickly north. Pete

Last week before I left Hua Hin you could see rain a few kilometers inland nearly every afternoon, but very little of it actually made it to the coast. At least it'll be filling up the reservoirs in the mountains.

I'm not sure how reliable the thermometer is in my front room, but it's hit 38 today. On the computer for about 10 mins at a time, then aircon.
