I agree, and I hope wotsizname will enjoy life in the Championship next year.
The only positive aspect of this story is that it detracts attention from the bitching between the Liverpool/Man U fans on this forum...
They make Spurs and Arsenal fans look like best buddies!
Who's the Man U fan?

I only know of Zidane supporting Man U and I love his posts, he's one of the most reasoned posters I've seen on Football.

Not really, though i'm not saying he's worth the money (no footballers are imo), but, had he gone to another rival team, he would have pocketed an even bigger signing on fee & bigger wages

Unfortunately football these days has well & truly gone bananas. :?

He'd have pocketed that at Liverpool if he was a free transfer maybe, but he's now on Gerrard/Suarez wages.

Big bucks for us and yourselves. We aren't the Citys of the league.

Dunno, I've been thinking about the signings we've had recently. Methinks that we used to have great players from Holland, France, Spain etc. They came and they left, with the exception of few i.e. Dennis Bergkamp.

Now we have re-signed 6 home grown young startlets who are all Brits (Wilshere, Ramsey, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Oxlade-Chamberlain and now Walcott). Will that make a difference? Will they remain with us because they signed as young players and they are Brits (with Kieran and Jack the lad being home grown)? Will they be ok and loyal even if they are not going to be the top paid players in the world and win all the trophies available? I honestly hope so. Just think about Cesc, Nasri, Clichy, v. Persie, Song and even Henry. They all left for money and/or glory even when so many of them said they loved Arsenal but then again so did Cashley Cole.

I know the football of today is not what it used to be and being loyal to your team is an obscure idiom for most of the players (that's why I value guys like Gerrard so much.)

Still these re-signings give me more hope and if the England team will one day have 5 Gunners, I will again start supporting them. No matter who the manager is, foreign or English.

No, I do think Zidane is a good poster, doesn't seem have a bias.

He's lived near me so he's obviously a proper good lad.

Baa.Baa, forget about the snow. There's plenty of it here for 5 months of year but it's -28 C at the moment. Fancy playing a game of football here?

It definitely cuts out a few Vultures BG, they won't be yearning for Barca and Real and there isn't much bigger in England than Arsenal.

Need start complimenting that with the odd indulgences buy though. As do we.

I wouldn't mind switching the weather with you. Have you ever been to -28 C? The thing is that it's just too far away from Islington. :D

Can't say it's been that cold, constantly miserable grey skys though!

Think we had 2 weeks of Summer this year.

I'd normally be in HH now but my bank disagreed this year.

I'll carry on from where I left. When Arsene came to Higbury in the late 90's, he changed the way how players ate and drank. It wasn't easy, there was for example a certain Tony Adams who objected to Arsene's ways in the beginning. Those days, Arsene said that there weren't enough top class British players with reasonable price tags so he bought foreign and it worked well. Even then he said that one day he wanted to have a team with British players being the core of the team but that would take time. Also we needed to move away from our mental home, Highbury to a new station to be able to make more money.

Now, it's been more than ten years since then but he has been true to his words. He started building a British team some 6-7 years ago, Walcott being one of his great signings of that time. I think so many of Arsenal fans are only looking for trophies at the moment and they have forgotten or never have known the times when we went without major trophies in the 70's and 80's (when Liverpool reigned supreme). We weren't too far of dropping out of the old div 1 in the middle of the 70's. Then came George Graham, who changed it but we were called boring and then came his demise. However, nobody has been as succesful as a manager at Arsenal as Arsene Wenger, not even the great Herbert Chapman. So I can nay understand why some fans are crying about the lack of trophies at the moment. The plan for Wenger for a long time has been 1. to be financially succesful enough and 2. build a team from home grown players that will be succesful. In my opinion, that will take another 3-4 years and so be it.

I rest my case (and my suitcase as well.)

And here's the one I hope will one day become the new Tony Adams, the Steve Gerrard of Liverpool or the Frank Lampard of Chelsea (although, he's from the west).
