I see that Newcastle have decided to appoint a French translator, rumour has it Joey Barton is interested in the position.

Weeeell, I don't wish to appear churlish, but this was yet another 1-0 thrashing inflicted by Spurs. 70% possession, 21 shots, 17 corners... oh, and a goal.

We won, and we appear to be challenging for 3rd place, but we really should be there already with a goal difference in the upper 20s.

But, as previously stated, I really do like the look of Holtby.

Yeah right, if it hadn't been for that we'd definitely have been thrashed!

If wotsisname hadn't been so stupid as to get himself sent off for nothing important, West Brom might have tried to leave their own half occasionally and we might therefore have won by a couple more.

Some great goals in the Citeh v Liverpool clash.
Probably the best was Gerrards whose shot rolled back the years for him and when Baa Baa was a lad !
Aguero's equaliser was brilliantly executed,as well, though what exactly Skrtel was doing I dont know.Maybe tired after being on the pitch for 2 minutes !
Dzeko and Sturridge also took their goals clinically.Liverpool played well but the only thing is with Sturridge playing up front,Suarez is in a more withdrawn role and in the periphery of things where he doesnt seem quite as effective....just my opinion.

Yeah, comfortable for the Spuds but West Brom in freefall a bit now and probably lucky they have the points already in the bag.

And thanks to Liverpool,United now 9 points clear at the top so everybody happy this weekend ! :rasta:

One of my 3 sons is an avid Spurs supporter so he won't thank me for saying this, but for all your possession, you could only manage one goal against 10 men for half the game, so it doesn't say much about your goal-shot ratio, well actually it speaks volumes. Unless you can start putting away a better proportion of your chances, you'll end up exactly where you were last year - almost there!!

Exactly the point I've made several times above.

Having said that, we keep buying midfielders, when what we really need is couple more top class strikers.

I'm agreeing with the last few posts - Spurs were woeful, not scoring enough and not grabbing their chances of improving the GD.

I don't see us staying in the top four at this rate

I second that. It's a funny old game though, Adebayor/Dembele/Walker/Assou-Ekotto/Dempsey/Sigurdsson all could start playing again instead of the shite they are serving up!

The good news for Spurs is that Chelsea ain't doing so well either.

The good news for both Spurs and Chelsea is that the lot below are very inconsistent. I view the biggest threat as Everton.

As well as Sturridge and Liverpool played yesterday, I don't think I have ever seem Man City look so poor. Just as at Chelsea, its hard to pin down the issue. We are both conceding goals where defence was previously a strong point.

I think the whole season is catching up with Suarez a bit, looked a bit leggy and against Arsenal too, playing the loan striker and with his work rate is going to catch up on you. Sturridge looks a great addition to me, he's much better than I expected, he'll only benefit Suarez in the long run.

Sturridge went to my high school too so he's obviously a well rounded kid.

Jamie Carragher to retire from football at the end of the season after more than 700 games for Liverpools first team since 1997.He also played 38 times for England.
No doubt about it,he has been a great servant to Liverpool and,at 35,it is probably best to retire now with his reputation as a top class defender still intact.
I remember Gary Nevilles last Premiership game for United just over 2 years ago.It was sad to watch. The pace had gone, the tackling was all over the place and he was torn to shreds.
Fortunately SAF took him off at half time and he announced his retirement a couple of weeks after that.

Ironically he's been our best defender this season in his few appearances.

Never the most naturally gifted but if you want an example of where pure dedication can get you, he's the man.

Arguably the best back to the wall defender in Europe 2005-2007, Maldini said as much, Gudjohnsen said Carra must've been cloned in Istanbul as he was everywhere.

Top Pro, proper Scouse Scally and a Liverpool legend.
