Great! Paid B500 to have the tank filled ....yesterday!! Impressive storm though, really loud thunder that actually woke up Mrs N from her afternoon kip. I hope this is the start of the rainy season :-)

Switching to cellphone. Router out. The street in front of my house is a small river now. :)

This is the same street they just spent three months installing a new water drainage system. I am really glad I don't own this house. They built the drain pipes with the lowest point right in front of my gate, about at the middle of the road. Instead of at a slight angle across the entire road so the water will drain off. But I no care. Just more adventure here.

Same has just happened here at Mon Mai! New road and drains, but they are flowing the wrong way and causing a lake outside the 7/11. Lots of workmen pointing at the water direction and scratching their heads....TIT!

the sad thing is the people really worked hard on this road. The cement people took hours to smooth out the surface. they seemed really happy and proud of what they were doing. lots of manual labor but the hard part of engineering something as simple as water flow is a total fail.

The road is about 150 yards long with a large canal on one end. They tore up the whole street and dug out the old strorm drain pipes and replaced them with the same size and type pipes. About 3 feet in diameter. i kept thinking how are they going to get the water to flow to the canal without the pipe being tilted just a few degrees? the answer is they are not. the lowest point is in the center point of the 150 yards making a nice big pond. I don't own the house so no problem. there are many other problems with the design.

sad because it will be like this for years. and today was the first real test and of course a total fail.

I told my girlfriend when they had the street torn up this would not work and the street will flood.

did anybody see the article about the nuke reactor they want to build in Thailand? :D

Water Flows Down Hill

I keep wondering when Thai engineers and contractors are going to learn this simple principle.

Nothing more pitiful than to watch legions of Thais trying to sweep accumulated rainwater up into drains that are an inch or two above the surrounding pavement.

Good luck, of course.

EDIT: Just put rainbow into Google Translate and I was, perhaps unsurprisingly, given the Thai word for rainbow. But it isn't, is it?
a. It's upside down
b. It's not raining!
Dear don't you know it's a rainbow. Was there rain before this?

Thinking about it, that" Love and Buy it" site, could be very appropriate, for one or two people visiting Thailand's more salubrious places.

The Accuweather site has been predicting rain all week, but certainly where we are, there hasn't been a drop so far.......hopefully that will be sufficient for the rain gods to give me a salvo!!
