We will be carrying out some forum software maintenance and upgrades this week so apologies for any outages, we will try to keep them at a minimum.

No dramas experienced Admin, service/access has been as usual. Whatever you and the gentlemen assisting did, it was deftly done.

Don't know if this should go here or in digital realm, feel free to move.

Is there a set period of time the system keeps you logged in to the forum for when not actively moving around it, ie: opening threads, sub-forums etc, as I seem to get logged off a lot, around the 15 minute or so mark. But I think not always, sometimes seems far longer!?

I may be writing a reply with the reply box open, get distracted or take ages, then when I go to preview or submit it I get bumped out to the login prompt, then after re-logging in I've lost the post I've written...when I've forgot to copy it to clipboard that is.

It's no major thing but wondered if there's anyway to adjust my 'stay logged on' time to a longer period. Had a look round UCP but can't see anything.

I get kicked off when, after reading a post, I click on "View unread posts". Not all the time, some times 4 or 5 times a session, sometimes not at all. It only started this about a week ago. Was good for a few days after the above tweak, but has come back again.

The auto-logout usually happens when you are on a mobile connection (Edge/GPRS), something to do with IP addresses changing. We are currently investigating.

I have the same problem with my EDGE Modem, but I checked the IP adress and it did not change. I think it is rather a time-out problem with a slow internet connection.

Using both Citywide and Edge (mobile) I'm having to log on about every 20 minutes

I'm not experiencing any problems with my EDGE modem with a DTAC sim in it from where I am in Thailand (not HH at the moment).

However, with my mobile phone (Thai GSM 1-2-call) with Opera Mini then I'm being kicked off all the time, hence no posts from me at weekends at the moment. It lets me sign in but then after a minute or two, heaven forbid I try to post, then I'm off the board with a request to sign in again and again, still does it if I try to sign in again, sends me back to the index page/square one.

We have changed the IP session, and referrer and browser validation settings, so it may have improved a little - let us know if it still happens. We have also noticed that the problem does not occur with Wifi or ADSL connections and is only evident on slow and unstable EDGE/GPRS connections that use the Thai mobile network. We are still investigating and trying to ascertain whether it is a problem with the board software or the ISP, thanks for your patience.

At first sight it seems to have improved. I opened 10 posts in different tabs very quickly and I was not logged out as was usual before.

Yeah Admin, think you nailed it there, seems to be fine with me and my phone now, even managed to post with it, problems seem to have evaporated.

Was still doing it today, but I am off a mobile 3G connection, never seem to get logged out at all afaik, the connection is quite strong. But with HHAD it's absolutely only when I leave a window/tab open for 15, 20, 30 minutes or so and do not move around any links/threads/forums etc. But at the same time that window is sitting there and getting disconnected at whatever point, I will be in another HHAD window/tab happily moving around and never getting bumped out, literally never.

It's no big deal though, just need to remember to Ctrl+C the text I've wrote before trying to preview or submit. I can leave a window/tab doing a download for half hour or more unattended and it's doesn't drop out, unless there's some seamless continuation thing going on.

It's probably Apple responding to Levs kind words :D

I know this has been mentioned many times Admin but I think your popularity is outstripping your technical ability, still getting that old chestnut about 'HHAD has it's max users online' stuff tonight and then booted off through "General Error".

No worries though, being overly popular is a nice problem to have, I guess.
