Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive
Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive
Now I'm getting upset (yet again! ) The boys rescued last night are fine. They are in the hospital eating pad krapao, but they have them in a quarantine room and haven't let their parents see them yet! Do they think they were infected by some space aliens living in the cave? Once again "...we control because we can..." If they were my kids let them try to stop me, or say just a word. You don't keep families separated after an ordeal like this unless it's for some critical medical reason and even then, you let the parents in to see them and sit with them. I truly hope it all ends well and everyone is happy but like so many things here a bad taste is starting to develop, at least for me after reading that. Pete

Pete C. I agree completely. The wellbeing of these kids is paramount. What they need most right now, after all this trauma, are their immediate families. I don't really give a shit if they send mum and dad in in spacesuits... but for f's sake let them in!

I wasn't aware of that, and I find it unbelievable, but Mrs BB has confirmed it. This is really a crazy country

People with ebola are even allowed visitors (with the correct precautions in place). The worst these boys could have (I believe) is something called cave-disease transmitted via batshit. But they can still have suited and booted visitors. Keeping the parents away is batshit. No. Worse than that. It's downright cruel and will only add to the psychological trauma of these poor kids.

Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive
You have to wonder if keeping the parents away is some twisted Thai logic as a result of having to allow international assistance with this? The Phu Yai have had to bow to Farang intervention, and now they are "getting their own back".
It is similar with the media blockage. For sure there has to be controls on access to the site, but there are families of those at the coal face that are entitled to know that those putting their life on the line are ok.

One more boy out, 3 on the way: Source (no source given?)

Four more boys have reached Chamber 3 in Tham Luang -- past the narrow, treacherous passage near the T-junction that poses the greatest threat to the rescue operation, a source in the operation centre said on Monday.
Another source said that one boy was brought all the way out of the cave where 12 boys and their soccer coach had been stranded for over two weeks, and airlifted to Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital, a military source said.
The first source said the boys arrived at the chamber at 4pm after being rescued by foreign and Navy Seal divers from the ledge - called Nern Nom Sao.- where they had sheltered from floodwaters for more than a week.
They are the second batch to undertake the perilous journey out of Tham Luang cave in Mae Sai district in Chiang Rai. The first four were successfully evacuated and taken to Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital in Muang district on Sunday.
Divers took about four hours to escort the four from the ledge to the chamber, the source added.
Chamber 3 is the operational base for rescuers inside the cave. It is about two kilometres from the entrance.
The evacuation procedure calls for the boys to receive initial medical treatment there before rescuers take them through the remaining stretch of the cave to a field hospital outside, and then transport them by helicopter or ambulance to join their colleagues at the hospital.
Rescue mission chief Narongsak Osotthanakorn on Monday said the operation on the second day started at 11am.
Four more young footballers and their coach at the Mu Pa (WIld Boar) Academy Mae Sai, Ekkapol Chantawong, are still on the ledge.
The thirteen were trapped by floodwater after entering the cave on June 23, and forced deeper and deeper inside the labynthine tunnels.
.................................................................................................................
Still more confusion as earlier reports have stated that the coach was one of the first taken out.

Amazingly dumb isn't Pete. So how is the health risk of all the rest of the hundreds of rescue teams members going to be seen too? and what about the thousands of onlookers who contacted them?..... And, OMG what about the PM????? didn't he show up to the scene ? May have to postpone the election eh ?
Seriously, despite the typical Thai drama that has beIing played out ,let's hope and pray that this all ends well.

After all the drama, & distraught..to not let the parents see/meet their own offspring ffs..
This is when the world will witness what mad rules the Thais have to live with each day..
Still I suppose isolation in a hospital ward is a million times better than where the boys were 'isolated' before..

Any twitter folks here ?
If # "me too" can go viral in days
Then so could # "let the boys see their parents"

Most people that use Twitter a lot need to submit themselves for a psychological evaluation imo.

Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive
My Thai lady friend tells me that she and her friends are very surprised and impressed about all the efforts to rescue the boys. That divers would come from the UK and Austalia impresses them. That foreigner had to come to effect a rescue does not surprise them.
When you remember that since the boys were trapped almost 1000 people have died in Road Traffic accidents I understand why. Life is cheap.

They better hurry and finish it today, July 10. The weather appears to be deteriorating up there, and over most of the country. Pete
