Only on Wednesday the schools 'knew nothing'. The difference a couple of days make.

The school requires a rapid antigen test is done before my daughter is allowed back to school.

Quite happy to do it myself. But, where can I buy one ? Cheap as possible !

Thanks

They're issuing millions around the country for free. School students should be prioritised. It might be worth checking with the school to see if they can provide an ATK.

Having said that, the schools are administering vaccinations over the next month.

Just when I was expecting kids going back to school next week, my grandsons' schools have announced that they will continue online learning as they're not ready to open.

My eldest grandson started his new school 6+ months ago and has yet to see the inside of the school!!

Same here on the Eastern front, at least in Rayong. At least another week, perhaps not until the 15th they say. That's International schools. I'm not sure about normal Thai schools over here.

One bit of good news though, my youngest granddaughters school have reduced term fees by 60%. They've been threatening long enough, and after a small refund last term, its much better news this term.

That's great news. Let's hope that trend spreads. Out of the 3 schools my grandkids attend, 2 of them gave a pitiful refund (2,000 baht from a 15,000 term fee) and the 3rd - no offer as yet.

Lucky you, we got a miserly 20% off and I've refused to pay it until they reopen again.

Amounts will obviously vary according to the standard of education and amount of fees charged in the first place. However, I think any reduction is a ground breaker.

When my eldest granddaughter returned to Uni, they were not allowed in until they had paid for the accommodation which had been lying empty for several months, and even more outrageous, they had to pay for the electricity that nobody could have used as the Uni was evacuated for many months, so who used what?

Yep, sadly the schools in Thailand operate like cut-throat businesses, their profit margins and the bottom line is more important than educating children.
