I think the British media are and biased reportage most certainly is.

Except the Economist. Someone pointed me in their direction today as apparently they have done a lot of work on the stats, but it's all covered by subscription and the fees are scary. From what I gather they are stating most of Europe have higher figures than declared and I was able to find a report where they compared reported deaths from Jakarta to funeral numbers (massive discrepancy). Although again, from what I could piece together, it was a case of most Countries playing catch up with their data, rather than deliberate deceit. Well for most - poor old Putin keeps getting caught out by his regional officials giving the game away and no-one trusts China in all of this in any case.

Just one new case today, a returnee from Bahrain. Down to only 90 active cases across Thailand.

Looking forward to a game of pool next month.

GOV’T STOCKPILES ANTI-VIRAL DRUGS IN CASE OF 2ND WAVE OUTBREAK
Thailand’s Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) said in a press briefing on Tuesday that it is currently stockpiling about 400,000 doses of anti-viral drug Favipiravir, in case a second wave of COVID-19 outbreak erupts.

The GPO had previously imported 187,000 tablets of Favipiravir from foreign countries, and 100,000 have been delivered to hospitals nationwide, and the GPO will keep 87,000 as a reserve, said Nuntakan Suwanpidokkul, director of the GPO’s Research and Development Institute.

Nuntakan said that another batch of 303,860 Favipiravir tablets will arrive in Thailand, enough to treat new patients in case a second wave of outbreak occurs.

“Each COVID-19 patient requires up to 70 tablets of Favipiravir,” said Nuntakan, adding that “we are also looking into producing local anti-viral tablets to reduce reliance on imports. Since Favipiravir tablets are used worldwide during the pandemic, it is not easy to get access to them.”

She said there are several Thai pharmaceutical companies doing research on anti-viral tablets.

“However, it will take another year or so to perform clinical tests and register the drug. So, the domestic version of Favipiravir should be ready for public use by 2022, at the earliest,” Nuntakan said.

Currently, the GPO is working in collaboration with Thailand’s National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) on research into ways to synthesize raw materials to manufacture Favipiravir.

“The research is showing promising results and should be completed within three to six months. We are also looking into using local raw materials to reduce the cost of producing the anti viral drugs,” said Nuntakan.

From: - https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/ ... -of-honour

"The death toll in Brazil reached a total of 17,971 on Tuesday, after a record 1,179 people died in one day. The highest daily toll before Tuesday had been 881 deaths, on 12 May.

The grim new toll came amid warnings that several major cities in Latin America were in danger of being overwhelmed by the virus. More than 85% of intensive care beds are full in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo."

20,000 new cases daily and 1,000+ new deaths and all 50 states are opening up in one form or another. Some are lifting all restrictions and opening fully. "We're are bringing life back to what it was before this virus!!"
Social distancing 'is advised'.

If the US gets away with this then it's certain Trump will be in for another 4 years.

We have close to zero and we're in full lock down!
Gov. Mike Dunleavy said May 19 that all businesses and houses of worship will be allowed to open on Friday, May 22 at 8 a.m.

“It will all be open, just like it was prior to the virus,” Dunleavy said at a news conference.

Businesses can return to 100% of their normal capacity, although local communities will have the option of keeping stricter rules.

Also libraries, museums, recreational activities and sports activities may open.

Unless the virus spreads exponentially. If that happens it will be the end of Trumps Presidency or whatever it's called.

If the infection rate and death rate don't worsen, then he'll be a hero.
That's what I was trying to say. It's a massive risk and all the odds are against it. I don't wish thousands of more deaths, but if that does happen then it'll be down to Trump.

My analysis is he will get away with it. We haven’t seen any spikes with countries coming out of lockdowns.

Not true - certainly an initial spike in Germany. I don't believe the US has had anything like the same measures in place or policed.

If there is any spike(s) after opening up, it'll be a couple of weeks before it appears.

Can’t see one. The infection rate, not deaths as there is a big lag there.

Has there been any news or further mention of the 9 returnees from UK (EVA flight) with 'high fever' or was it fake news?
