Ooof, just watched my first ever Star Wars film. Naturally, I began with episode VII - The Force Awakens. What a cracking movie! On to episode VIII now, The Last Jedi. Then maybe I'll track back through the others.
Edit: Just seen there's another episode after 8. 'Rise of Skywalker'. Got a lot to watch.

Chronologically ... you should start with episode I – 'The Phantom Menace'. There are two more after that, then you have to go back to 1977 to watch 'A New Hope' which is episode 4.
I'm currently working my way through The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings trilogies, redownloaded the extended versions in full HD ... beer and nacho time!

Well what a treat of a movie I had today! And what a great year to watch it in. Very apt. If you're one of the few (like I was) who haven't watched this one yet, get it watched. Really excellent movie. 5 stars.

With remembrance day here, and the fact we should always remember, and the unknown soldier, I recommend "Taking Chance". It's about a soldier (Kevin Bacon) escorting a dead comrade home to be buried. It's, for me, a tear-jerker. Not normally a Kevin Bacon fan but he is excellent here.
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.
One that you lot have probably seen already but I just got round to it last night. I'm going through some 1970s movies at the moment. The Wicker Man. What a cracking movie that is! Right up my street. Read that Christopher Lee liked the script so much he did his role for free!
Movie viewing for tonight is the original Carrie. You chaps got any favourites from the 70s?

Watched that Black Swan last night. Never bothered with it before as I thought it was a girly film. Oh, how wrong I was! It's utterly brutal. I thought it was incredible and I'd go as far as saying it's creeped into my top 10 favourite movies.
Highly recommend this one.

Not a recommendation because it's definitely a 'B' rated movie.
A new zombie movie called 'Strain' has been released. What great timing. The plot is about a vaccine developed to fight a new virus. However, the vaccine was flawed and everyone that got the vaccine turned into flesh eating zombies. Now considering the mentality of Trump supporters, can you imagine what that'll do to the safety concerns of the Covid vaccine!!!
This is a decent enough Victorian Jack the Ripper-style whodunnit with a couple of twists at the end. The highlights for me are the cast, particularly Bill Nighy, and the fact that much of it is set in the Music Hall, in which I've always been especially interested.

A comet threatens to wipe out civilisation. A family try find their way to what may be the only safe spot on the planet.
Watched this last night, its a tired well-trodden plot but entertaining viewing in a year that has been a proverbial desert for movies.
Some great cinematography in this one and a bit of science thrown in to boot. A bit like 'Gravity' combined with 'Arctic', goes on for a bit long but enjoyed it nonetheless.

For anyone into their twisted mindfk movies look no further than Martyrs. What a movie! Leaves you speechless by the end of it. It's in French so you'll need the subs or dubs if you don't speak it. The 2016 American remake is a pointless load of cack.
Finally watched that The Irishman yesterday. Very good. Looooong (3hrs 10 I think) but good. Incredible pieces of acting from De Niro, Pacino, Pesci and the like.
Another twisted French movie I watched recently (due to the lack of new releases, I've been venturing into other country's films with great success) is RAW. Again, not for the faint hearted.
Gave Once Upon a Time in Hollywood another try tonight. Thought I may not have watched properly the first time. Turned it off after an hour and a half. Rubbish.

For any fellow horror fans out there, if you've not seen 2013's V/H/S 2 yet (the first is also good) you won't be disappointed. Just finished and really enjoyed it. 5 short stories shot in found footage style. All stories were good, some excellent I thought. Had to forward past the third short as it's in a foreign language and no subs on the yts download. Looked really good though.
Deserving of its high (for a horror movie) ratings from the usual suspects.
Gonna try Lake Mungo now. That last movie has got me in the mood for more found footage/mockumentary scares.
